Community Highlights: Meet Sydney Torabi of RESTART CBD & THC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Torabi.

Sydney Torabi

Hi Sydney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been in love with fitness my whole life. From a young age, I started competing competitively in swimming and took that up to the collegiate level, where I swam on the women’s swim team for the University of Texas at Austin. While in school, I studied nutrition, and it only deepened my love for a healthy and active lifestyle. While in college, I began personal training and was a CPT and group fitness coach for about 6 years before completely switching gears and entering the cannabis scene. I started RESTART with my older sister and mom back in 2015. There was a massive gap in the market, and we felt that it needed to be filled. With my background in nutrition and fitness, we focused on providing high-quality CBD & THC products alongside education. Now, almost 6 years later, RESTART is the leading cannabis business in the state of Texas! It’s completely surreal. I still work out and prioritize my health and have found that cannabis allows me to talk about alternative medicines and continue to live a healthy lifestyle.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It never is, and I’m incredibly grateful that it hasn’t been. Some significant struggles I’ve faced in recent years have been building leadership skills and learning for the first time what it means to run a successful business. There aren’t enough books in the world to prepare you for this, and no matter how much I read or who I speak to, there’s nothing quite like experiencing it firsthand and learning from your mistakes. Trust me, when you mess up once, you never mess up (on that) again.

As you know, we’re big fans of RESTART CBD & THC. What can you tell our readers who might need to become more familiar with the brand?
RESTART is an Austin-based Cannabis business started by my mom, sisters, and myself! We’ve been around for almost 6 years and got into the business because of an unfortunate experience. In 2015, my older sister was hit by a car in Austin and used CBD specifically during her recovery. She’s fine today, walking and talking like her old self, but that was a scary time for our family. When she started using the product, I didn’t understand it. I had come from a college athlete and was an anti-drug girl. But, her accident completely changed my outlook on cannabis and its ability to heal naturally.

We specialize in providing high-quality products alongside education. We aim to destigmatize the plant and allow people to choose for themselves and ask questions in a safe space. The biggest thing that sets us apart is our ability to connect and be transparent. We love meeting people from all backgrounds and experiences and finding common ground through cannabis!

There are a lot of moments I’m proud of. As a sister, daughter, and 30-year-old girl just figuring out life, RESTART is a family-owned cannabis brand, and that comes with a lot of triumphs and struggles. I’m most proud of how we’ve progressed over the years. We never stay still and are constantly pushing the boundaries on what it means to be a cannabis business in a state like Texas, where it’s been demonized for quite some time. On a larger scale, we are nationally known, and my hope is to be not just a leading Texas business but also a leading business in this industry. Suppose you’re someone who has questions or needs a reliable source for cannabis products. We’re your people.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Empathy, leadership, and the ability to respond to change rapidly.
