Community Highlights: Meet Taylor Molano of Molano Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Molano.

Hi Taylor, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I took the leap of faith to start my own business in 2018. I had just graduated with my Bachelors in Media Studies from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. I was working for my dream company, Sony, as a digital imaging specialist. Things were going great until my husband, Christopher, had to take time off of work due to his health. He had lupus which had caused kidney failure. He had been on dialysis waiting for a kidney for six years. I’m not going to lie, things were getting bad. After discussing it with his doctors, we decided the best thing to do was for him to take some time off of work to focus on his health. With my husband being home, I knew I needed to make up that second income. That’s when I had the idea to start doing photography professionally. Molano Media grew bigger than I ever imagined. My clients would send me more and more people. Soon enough, I was shooting a wedding every weekend and portraits on weekdays. The next thing I knew, I was saying goodbye to Sony to do this full time. Things only got even better from there. My husband received the greatest gift – a new kidney. After that Christopher joined my team as my 2nd shooter. Molano Media is my pride and joy. I’m very proud of everything we have accomplished.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Getting to where we are now has not been anywhere near easy. We had to teach ourselves social media, marketing, and so much more. There are weeks where we are working well over 40 hours. I always tell people my job doesn’t end when I get home. I am constantly editing, replying to emails, FaceTiming with brides, and everything in between. However, I don’t mind it because delivering that final gallery and hearing how much my couples love their photos is always worth it. On top of that, the wedding industry is an extremely hard and competitive industry to get into. Brides have so many different options when it comes to photographers. To be successful, you really have to stand out from everyone else. That’s why we truly create a one of a kind experience for our couples. Over the years, we have taken the time to learn the ends and outs of what makes a memorable wedding for our couples. We want our couples to take in the moment and not have to worry about the small things. That’s why we are always sharing our wedding tips and tricks to our clients. We don’t just wear the photographer hat, we help Molano Media couples with everything from planning their big day to coordinating and everything along with it.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Molano Media specializes in luxury wedding photography. We travel around Texas documenting people’s most important day of their lives. I truly believe that hiring a professional wedding photographer is one of the best and most important decisions you can make when planning your wedding. These are memories that are going to last you a lifetime and that you will look back on forever. We offer a one of a kind experience for our couples.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
This is going to sound cheesy but follow your heart. When I decided to leave my job to pursue photography everyone thought I was making the wrong decisions, but I knew they were wrong. Sure enough, it was the best decision I could have ever made. We have gotten so many amazing opportunities and seen so many beautiful places because of Molano Media.
