Conversations with Alexis Tijerina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Tijerina.

Hi Alexis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m Alexis Tijerina, the owner and creative heart behind Graze by Lex. Born and raised in Austin, TX. I started this journey in 2022 after spending time hosting friends and family at home, creating charcuterie boards that quickly became more than just a hobby, they became a passion.
I’m a full-time mama to my three greatest blessings, 2 boys and one daughter. Balancing motherhood, a full-time career, and now growing a small business that keeps me busy on weekends doing what I truly love. Learning how to juggle it all and find balance hasn’t been easy, but this business has become something that fills my cup creatively and personally.
I’m also currently in my fiancé era, and my partner Erica has become my built-in business partner (working for free most days 😉). Together, we’ve poured so much love into building Graze by Lex from the ground up.
For me, every graze is more than just food, it’s art, connection, and creating memorable moments for others. I’m so thankful to continue growing this dream.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road and honestly, I think that’s what makes this journey worth it. Graze by Lex started as something I loved doing while hosting friends in my home, and over time it grew into something bigger. But building a business while working a full-time job and raising three kids hasn’t always been easy. There are still many weekends where I am balancing family time, late-night prep, early grocery runs, and showing up for my business after already giving so much to my career and home life.
One of my biggest struggles is learning how to wear so many hats at once. Being a creator, business owner, mom, partner, and employee, without losing myself in the process. There were moments of self-doubt, wondering if I had enough time, enough energy, or if people would truly see value in what I was creating.
As a small business owner, there’s also so much people don’t see behind the scenes. Pricing, sourcing, marketing, setting boundaries, and learning that growth doesn’t happen overnight. But every challenge taught me something. It taught me to trust my creativity, ask for help, embrace imperfection, and celebrate progress instead of perfection. Looking back, those struggles shaped Graze by Lex into what it is today, and they’ve made every opportunity feel that much more rewarding.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Being the owner of Graze by Lex, its been a creative outlet that became a business built around bringing people together.
I specialize in elevated charcuterie experiences, from intimate boards and grazing tables to classes and curated event experiences. I’m known for creating spreads that feel intentional, welcoming, and beautiful while still feeling approachable. My style leans clean, elevated, and thoughtfully designed, with a focus on making every setup feel personal to the client and their event.
I’m most proud of is building something from the ground up all while balancing life. Every event, class, and booking represents trust from my community, and I never take that lightly. What sets my business apart is that I don’t see charcuterie as just food—I see it as creating connection, as well as a piece of art. Your own blank canvas to show the community my talent. I want people to gather, slow down, celebrate, and leave feeling like they experienced something memorable. Every graze is created with intention, and I think people can feel that.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Do not compare your beginning to someone else’s middle. Everyone’s journey looks different. You don’t need to have everything figured out right now. Stay true to what feels authentic to you, give yourself grace, and remember that consistency matters more than having everything perfectly planned. What I wish I knew then is that growth doesn’t happen all at once and you don’t need perfection to begin. Some of the best opportunities came from simply saying yes, showing up, and learning along the way.
