Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Holder.
Hi Ali, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been writing songs and performing since I was 15 years old. I moved to Austin in 2010 to pursue music. I have been playing regionally and nationally since then. I had to pivot into social media management/digital marketing during the pandemic. I have started playing and touring again in 2022 and I am so grateful to be back!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
When the pandemic hit, it made me realize how hard I was hustling for music. My body and mind were just shot. I feel like I can now go back into playing music in a way that is healthier for both my mental and physical health.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I write, sing, and play songs. I have been doing it professionally for the last 10+ years. I’ve put out 2 LPs and 2 EPs, several music videos and my songs have been placed in two different television series.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
In terms of networking, get out there and support your community. In terms of finding a mentor, don’t be afraid to get rejected, don’t be afraid to ask questions of the people who inspire you. What’s worked best for me in this area is just walking into a situation knowing I will get whatever I need to, and meet whoever I need to. I don’t need to force anything.
Another piece of advice I would give which is not necessarily related to this is – it’s ok if your goals change, if your heart changes, let them. Let them lead you where you need to go. Change is a good thing if you can allow that trust.
