Conversations with Asteroth Prometheus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Asteroth Prometheus.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The Project of ERGI started in 2015 with a waking dream as I walked across a field at night. Along the edges of the field, at the forest break, I kept seeing from the corners of my eyes, these impossibly tall figures in robes with antlers and glowing green eyes watching me as I walked beneath the cold night sky. I felt that these creatures were ancient, older than humanity, and that they were watching us, just outside of our perception.

My impression of them was that they were some eldritch unknown, neither good nor bad, but something outside of the human experience of morality. I was exhilarated, terrified, and yet felt entirely at peace at the same time.

ERGI have existed as long as humanity have, those on the edges of society looking in. The scapegoat, the adversary, the other. Being external to the whole, gives a greater perspective to observe it. To examine its contours and shapes.

The goal of ERGI is to convert you. Where some draw a small circle to define the self and keep others out, we draw a circle with an infinite perimeter and thus no borders, that encompasses that which we do not understand.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, but we continue to persist. There have been witch hunts. There have been satanic panics. There have been all manner of purges, genocides, and frenzies of self-righteous violence against the powerless and marginalized that have only made things worse for everyone on earth.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are proud of the face that we continue to persist, despite all efforts to erase us. We are like the ants that spread from a disturbed ant hill. We are the flowers that bloom when the seeds of cruelty are planted. We are the fungal strands that stitch the forest together, unseen beneath the soil.

What makes you happy?
Performing music is a transcendental experience. Seeing music performed is a transcendental experience. Those moments of bliss, where one feels that they can reach beyond the self and tap into something greater, that is always the goal.
