Today we’d like to introduce you to CP Loony.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I’ve always loved music since I could remember. Now that I look back on my childhood years growing up, I was always fascinated by the creative aspect of music & how the artist came up with an idea in their head and brought it to reality over a record. My artist journey started at 13 when my pops bought me a home studio out of nowhere. I have no idea what made him do that since I never shared that I wanted to make music up to that point, but I’m glad he did because it sparked a fire in me that is still burning strong. I instantly fell in love with creating music. In recent years, I’ve had the opportunity to perform on many stages around the city, state & out of state, SXSW, ACL, Washington D.C & Portland, Oregon.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My road has been smooth. Of course, obstacles come up, but I never negatively look at them. I know that everything is working in my favor, so I enjoy every moment of it, whether it’s good or so-called “bad.”
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an independent hip-hop artist from Austin, TX. You can say I specialize in rap, but honestly, I try not to box myself in as just being labeled as a rapper. I like creating music and & stepping outside of the box with my sound. I’m most proud of my persistence & determination when it comes to my music career. I have a few bumps in the road, but I never allow it to move me off course & I get better and better with time. I guess you can say that sets me apart because when most people fold to the pressure and give up, I keep going.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Music was not my first love growing up. I played basketball from the age of 4 throughout my whole childhood. I was focused on trying to make it professionally. Until high school, that’s when the music took over my focus.
