Today we’d like to introduce you to Danette Falltrick.
Hi Danette, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After 6 years in the restaurant service industry, I decided it was time to find a career I loved, that fulfilled my artistic heart. My husband actually gave me the idea to become a hairstylist. He told me coloring hair was just like painting on people and cutting hair was just like sculpting. I couldn’t agree more now that I’m in my 15th year of working behind the chair. It took me about 2 years out of cosmetology school to be fully booked 4-6 weeks out. I passed out flyers door to door, sent postcards in the mail to all new residents in my area and asked all my clients to refer me. It’s been nothing but amazing since.
They say find something you love to do and you’ll never work a day in your life and I completely agree. I love my clients and learning all about their life’s and I love being able to provide them a service that I feel passionate about that uplifts their mood. When you look good you feel good and that just radiates outside the salon into their lives and to those around them. I enjoy coloring the most and even more when my clients give me full creative control. I love contrasting colors and maintaining the hair’s quality while designing unique colors for each client.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The struggles along the way have been: Having children and learning how to readjust my schedule, from 5 days a week to 3-4.
In the beginning, having to build a clientele as fast as possible to pay rent. As I am a booth renter stylist. Taking vacations is always a struggle as I feel like I’m abandoning them and making them wait longer to get in to see me. Of course, Covid was a struggle too but we got passed the hard parts.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My specialty is in Hair Color and I have been labeled by some people as the Guru. I apply a keen emotional intelligence and I bring a stylish approach to everything I do. I work with my clients to really get to know their unique style of communication expressing themselves then I work with them to design a hairstyle that makes them feel amazing! With my artistic eye, I create an amazing look just for them. I’m most proud of everyone that leaves my suite with a smile and that they love their hair. I think what sets me apart from others is my attention to detail and being precise at what I do not only shows in my work but warrants my love for my craft.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I’m Personable and Dependable. Two great things to possess when you are working with the public. Of course, I love what I do so that makes a huge difference. I enjoy going into the salon.
