Conversations with Gisselle Barmore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gisselle Barmore

Hi Gisselle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey with photography began in 2022 as a photographer at the Zoo in San Antonio Texas. I had the opportunity to work alongside a talented cinematographer (Jacob Espinoza) who was my boss at the time that taught me about the art of photography. From working alongside him and other aspiring photographers I learned more about the beauty of photography and its different mediums. After this job I went away to college, and currently continue my studies at Texas State University. I studied as a Theatre Education Major for two years until I realized my life’s passion lies in photography. I began experimenting with portraiture, creative works, theatrical performance photos, promotional photography, and music media photography. My passion for my art lies in my own contemporary work and music photography where I can tell the stories of individuals through my lens. I continue to grow my audience and learn new techniques and skills as I grow as a photographer.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Any aspiring artist faces challenges and hiccups along their journey. I have only recently begun my long journey as an artist and have faced many set backs. The biggest challenge I have faced has been commitment to my art. It’s often hard to find inspiration and motivation as an artist and the best way I have ever found ways to combat these issues is through taking the time to experiment with new work and taking a new direction on the media. At the end of the day through any challenges I know that photography is where I belong and I’ll always guide myself back to the path of creation.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Multimedia/Multigenre Photographer. I specialize in music photography and creative works. As a photographer I want to learn it all and be experienced in as many practices as possible, I love being knowledgeable about photography and every genre adds to my individualistic style. I think something that can set me apart from other artists is my passion. I’ve always found ways to make my ideas come to life even if they need reworking and never give up on my concepts.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being able to experience and pursue my passions as a photographer. Meeting and gaining new connections with other creatives. Learning and developing new concepts for production and creating. These are just a few of the things that bring me happiness. It all lies in the thrill of creation.
