Today we’d like to introduce you to Joel Silva.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
More Than a Tattoo Studio Blessed Ink Tattoos is A Family Legacy
Blessed Ink Tattoos is a locally owned tattoo studio in Austin, Texas, founded on family, passion, and a commitment to creating meaningful artwork.
The story began with Arturo Silva, whose artistic journey started long before Blessed Ink Tattoos opened its doors. As a young artist, Arturo expressed his creativity through drawing and spray-painting murals, eventually discovering tattooing as the medium that would allow him to transform people’s stories into permanent works of art.
Known for his attention to detail, creativity, and dedication to his clients, Arturo has earned a reputation as an exceptional tattoo artist. Just as importantly, he has become a mentor to the next generation of tattoo artists, generously sharing his knowledge, techniques, and passion for the craft. Many developing artists have grown professionally under his guidance, making Blessed Ink Tattoos not only a studio, but a place where talent is cultivated and careers are built.
When Arturo had the opportunity to open his own studio, he invited me, his brother, Joel Silva, to help build the business.
Although I came from a different professional background, including Management roles with IHOP, Taco Cabana, and Sodexo Dining Services at Southwestern University—he recognized the opportunity to help turn Arturo’s artistic vision into a sustainable business. Together we combined creativity, operational excellence, and customer service to create what Blessed Ink Tattoos is today.
Today, Blessed Ink Tattoos has grown into a respected studio known for professionalism, cleanliness, outstanding customer service, and exceptional tattoo artistry. Our artists specialize in a variety of styles, including fine line, black and grey realism, full color, custom designs, and large-scale projects. Every client receives the same attention to detail, whether it’s their first tattoo or their fiftieth.
Our commitment extends beyond creating beautiful tattoos. We strive to provide a welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable and artists have the freedom to develop their skills, express their creativity, and build successful careers.
As we continue to grow, we’re expanding our vision through community partnerships like Fresh Ink Rewards™, supporting other local businesses while giving our clients even more reasons to choose local.
At Blessed Ink Tattoos, every tattoo tells a story.
Ours begins with two brothers, one dream, and a passion for creating art that lasts a lifetime.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No one prepares you for what it takes to open a tattoo studio with no experience, just determination, resilience, and the support of the many talented artists who helped us along the way.
Financing the studio was one of our greatest challenges. We had little money, no credit with a bank, and no family members who could help us financially. So we found another way: we traded tattoos for flooring, walls, electrical work, and many other services. At the time, it was our only option; and we made it work.
As we continue to grow, new challenges come our way. But we remain faithful, keep moving forward, and believe that with hard work and perseverance, we will overcome them.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m the owner of Blessed Ink Tattoos, a tattoo studio in Austin, Texas. Our shop brings together talented artists with a range of styles, including black and gray, realism, fine line, traditional, and Japanese. We’re known for custom tattoos, welcoming walk-ins, and providing a clean, professional environment with private rooms. We also speak Spanish, so clients can feel comfortable communicating with us in English or Spanish.
I’m most proud of what we’ve built together. We opened the studio without experience or much financial support, and we relied on determination, resilience, and the help of other artists and members of our community. We’ve grown through hard work, collaboration, and a commitment to giving every client a positive experience.
What sets us apart is the people behind the studio Blessed Ink TEAM. We support one another, welcome clients from all backgrounds, and work hard to make each person feel heard and cared for. Blessed Ink is more than a place to get tattooed, it’s a team and a community we’re proud to be part of.
