Conversations with Kent Broom

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kent Broom.

Hi Kent, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My path to real estate has been shaped by a passion for people, relationships, and helping others navigate important life decisions. Throughout my career, I have always been drawn to work centered on creating positive experiences for others, specifically clients. While “Sales” hasn’t always felt natural to me, building genuine relationships has. That naturally led me to real estate, where I saw an opportunity to make a meaningful impact during one of the biggest milestones in a person/family’s life.

A big part of my story also includes my personal journey here in Austin. I met my wife Shelby in Austin in May of 2022, and we really loved the city life together. That meant a lot of walks on town lake and South Congress. As our relationship grew and we got engaged, we started thinking more intentionally about where we wanted to build our life together. We made the decision to buy a new build out in Dripping Springs, and it quickly felt like home in a way that was hard to ignore. We got married at Mae’s Ridge out here in the Hill Country, and shortly after getting married we fully settled into Dripping Springs, right in the heart of the community we now love and get to call home.

Today, I am proud to serve as a Realtor in Dripping Springs with Magnolia Realty Austin | Hill Country. I love helping buyers, sellers, and families navigate the market with confidence while making the process as smooth and stress free as possible. For me, this business is about much more than transactions. It is about trust, stewardship, and helping people find a place to truly call home.

Dripping Springs and the greater Hill Country community mean a great deal to me, and I am grateful to build a business in a place that values connection, family, and community. My faith is also a major foundation in how I work and serve others. I strive to do my business with integrity, treat clients the way I would want my own family treated, and honor Christ through working hard for my clients, honesty, and genuine care for the people around me, be it clients, other agents, or just our community here in town.

I am thankful for where I am today, and I see this as just the beginning of continuing to grow, serve others well, and make a lasting impact in our community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road, but I would not trade the challenges because they have shaped me both personally and professionally.

One of the biggest early lessons has been stepping into a new career and learning the rhythm of real estate in real time. It has required a lot of consistency, patience, and intentional effort to grow, especially as I have worked to build relationships and establish myself in the Dripping Springs community.

Another challenge has been learning how much responsibility comes with guiding people through one of the most emotional and important decisions of their lives. That has pushed me to grow in communication, patience, and becoming a steady presence for clients when things feel overwhelming or uncertain.

On a personal level, moving to Dripping Springs and building both a life and a career here was a big transition for us. Shelby and I felt a strong pull toward planting roots in a specific community, and that want to be deeply connected to a place has been on our heart for a long time. Building a new career while also building our life together has required a lot of intentional effort and Shelby has been so supportive of my career change from tech sales to real estate.

Looking back, these challenges have helped shape how I approach my work today with humility, gratitude, and a commitment to serving this community here in town in Drip.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So far, a large part of what I do has naturally been shaped by my own life stage and the community around me. My wife Shelby and I are in a season of life where many of our friends and the couples we are surrounded by in Dripping Springs are in their late 20s and early 30s, getting married, buying their first homes, and starting or growing their families. Because of that, I find myself in a very relatable position to many of my clients, and it allows me to better understand what this next step in life feels like for them.

A lot of my work so far has focused on helping first time buyers and sellers in my sphere navigate the process with clarity and confidence. When Shelby and I bought our first home, I was essentially learning the process alongside her and taking on the role of figuring things out, asking questions, and understanding each step in real time. I feel like that experience gave me a very practical and personal understanding of what buyers go through, especially when it feels unfamiliar or overwhelming.

Because of that, I place a strong emphasis on education, communication, and making sure my clients feel supported throughout the entire process. I want them to feel like they are not doing it alone and that they have someone who is genuinely looking out for their best interest, the same way I would for my own family.

I am also passionate about creative marketing and social media. I enjoy showcasing homes and Drip in a way that feels engaging and modern while helping them stand out in a competitive market. Alongside that, I care deeply about building community in Dripping Springs, supporting local businesses, and being actively involved in the place we now call home.

What I am most proud of is not just helping people buy or sell homes, but being part of such an important season in their lives. I believe what sets me apart is the combination of being in a very similar life stage as many of my clients, my firsthand experience as a first time buyer, my creative approach to marketing and social media, and a genuine commitment to serving and strengthening this community.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
My wife Shelby and I lead a young marrieds small group with another couple through Austin Ridge here in Dripping Springs. When we first moved out, we were honestly a little nervous because Dripping Springs has such a strong family oriented feel. We were hopeful to meet others in a similar stage of life, and we have been incredibly blessed by how many friendships have formed and how quickly this place has started to feel like home. Many of those relationships now feel like Dripping Springs family to us.
