Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The obstacles that I have faced were plentiful. One tried convincing people that the child support system was a welfare recovery program. The best interest of children is not the primary objective of the program. The government wants to collect money to allegedly repay itself for safety net programs that are not loans but grants. People did not like hearing this fact and hated to know that the system parents were told cared about their children was actually using them and their children to generate billions in revenue.

Another challenge I faced was being a woman, especially a Black woman, fighting for what many conceive as a ‘father’s’ rights issue. Although I had written a book, started an organization, and helped parents (mainly fathers) with child support issues and reform, I was constantly excluded from other organizations fighting for similar reforms. But I have overcome so many challenges and obstacles in my life. I started this journey with three goals, thanks to God, I achieved three years ago.

Overcoming challenges is what builds strength and character.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an author, journalist, and retired child support reform advocate. Currently, I am working on my second book. I continue to provide child support and family court information via my social media platforms.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Some characteristics that I feel have been most important to my success are dedication, strong work ethic, and resilience.
