Today we’d like to introduce you to Miriam Hejazi.
Hi Miriam, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved everything beauty-related, hair and makeup especially. Even as a kid, I noticed there wasn’t enough representation for different hair textures and skin tones, and I knew I wanted to be an artist who could make everyone feel seen and beautiful.
I started working with different wedding teams in 2020, which is how I got into the bridal industry. Over time, I realized I wanted to create a different experience for my brides. I wanted them to feel taken care of, comfortable, and truly listened to, while enhancing their natural beauty.
In 2024, I took a leap of faith and left my 9–5 to start my own bridal beauty business. It was definitely scary in the beginning, and I had a lot to figure out, but I kept practicing, working with models, and putting myself out there. Eventually, I started booking my own brides, and seeing their faces light up when I brought their vision to life made every late night and hard moment worth it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always challenges when starting something new. But I truly believe in my artistry and my mission as a bridal artist, so I’ve never let the hard moments stand in my way.
There have definitely been times when things felt uncertain, but I’ve learned that showing up for myself and my business, even on the harder days, is one of the best things I can do for myself!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a bridal hair and makeup artist, and honestly, I wouldn’t change it for anything. My work is my pride and joy! I specialize in creating hair and makeup looks that enhance your natural beauty and complement your features rather than take away from them.
I’m also very intentional about being inclusive. I use sensitive-skin-friendly products because I know what it’s like to be sensitive to beauty products, and I love working with all skin tones and hair textures. As a queer Arab, it’s also really important to me that my business is a welcoming space for all cultures, backgrounds, and love stories. I believe every beauty artist has a responsibility to make everyone feel seen and included, and I don’t take that lightly.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Honestly, I love Austin! I love the hustle and bustle, the health-conscious culture, the weather, and how creative and entrepreneurial the city feels. There’s always something happening, and I love that.
What I like least is that I wish the city would take more responsibility in caring for its residents. There are areas of Austin, especially in black and brown communities, that don’t have the same access to basic resources like clean water, healthcare, and other essential services. I also think we could be doing more with our resources to support people experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges, as well as improving access to quality healthcare for women across Texas. I love this city, which is why I want to see it continue to grow in a way that truly takes care of all of its people.
