Conversations with Nate Williamson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nate Williamson.

Hi Nate, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started off as a journalist in the print reporting industry before transitioning into sports reporting and broadcasting. It was during this time I realized that I had seen so little of the world, and desperately needed a transition. My new career in multimedia marketing took me to Austin, where I began venturing out (thanks to remote work!) to far away places. Since then I’ve visited a majority of the country as well as countries around the world. I never would’ve dreamed of it, growing up in a small town in the Midwest.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m blessed. That’s the first and foremost thing. I grew up in an insanely supportive family and community who always had my back, and continue to to this day. Now, I have my wife and my Texas community to thank for even more support. There have been speed bumps, but keeping the faith is rewarding.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a man of many hobbies who somehow turned my love for the outdoors into part of my job. I create outdoor and nature content, explore Texas, work in social media and marketing, and generally find ways to make getting outside an actual career. I’m usually either hiking, making coffee, or exploring somewhere new, messing with some random hobby, or figuring out how to turn it into content.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I was fortunate to grow up with a large tract of woods behind my house as a kid that my family would encourage the exploration of. I was very much a “garden hose” child for a lot of my youth, exploring the hills, trees, woods, ravines, etc.
