Today we’d like to introduce you to Reiley Boucher
Hi Reiley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My passion for content creating started when I was younger (around 11 years old or so). My siblings and I would film and upload Youtube videos of us doing challenges. For example we filmed us trying the rotten jelly bean flavors, eating peanut butter saltines without our hands as well as us making a rope swing inside our house and sliding down the stairs in a laundry basket. Years later in high school, my best friend at the time and I created a Youtube channel and made vlogs weekly as well as trending videos. Since Covid-19 took place, being stuck in the house resulted in me taking my passion for content creating to Tiktok. Ever since then I have been posting on Tiktok and have gained a small following. It has allowed me to try and transfer over my followers to all of my other social media such as Instagram, Snapchat and my Ultraviolet Club. In college, for my freshman and sophomore year, my major was Film/Photography.
Currently along with all of this. I have began to dig into the modeling industry and I’ve built a passion for that as well. I’ve had a few photoshoots with local photographers here in Austin and hope I go somewhere with that as well as my content creating. I’ve always had a passion for this and wish to convert to doing so full time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This industry is the furthest thing from smooth. It is a fast paced, quickly changing environment. You have to be strong willed and have tough skin because in this industry anything you post has the capability to be seen worldwide by anybody. That comes with criticism and negative comments. Many videos will flop and that will discourage you but you have to continue on and maintain that consistency to see growth. There has been so many times where I wanted to stop because of negative comments and videos that I thought for sure would go viral but flopped instead. This industry can also be so niche but at the same time so un-niche.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Aside from creating content and having a small social media presence, I’ve had a 9-5 job. When I was in college, I had a regular retail job then got bored of that because I knew that was not long term for me and wasn’t going anywhere professionally. So I then found a full time 9-5 at a software company as a Client Account Manager on the sales side of the company while in college and creating content.
Then, last July, I impulsively decided to move from Virginia to Austin and found a new 9-5 here while still creating content but I began to switch my content niche a little bit. My goal is to be able to leave these 9-5’s because their simply not for me. I don’t love being controlled, being stuck in an office all day or having to “request time off”. None of that sits well with me. I love doing what I want and being impulsive. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do and having a 9-5, doesn’t allow me to do so as much as I want. But I find the time.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Adaptability, strong-willed, and being spontaneous are a few
