Conversations with Valerie Lewis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Lewis.

Hi Valerie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in North Killeen, so Central Texas is more than the area where I work, it is home. I have been connected to real estate for more than 20 years, beginning in property management working in the multifamily and apartment industry, where I learned how properties perform, how owners think, and how important communication and problem-solving are when people’s homes and investments are involved.

I eventually became a full-time REALTOR®, and for nearly a decade I have helped buyers, sellers, investors, landlords, and business owners navigate residential sales, luxury homes, land and acreage, commercial real estate, new construction, property management, and short-term rentals such as Airbnb and VRBO.

My career did not develop in one straight line. I am also a single mother, and building a business while raising two children has required faith, resilience, discipline, and the ability to find solutions when there was no obvious answer. Those experiences shaped how I serve my clients today.

I am honest about the good, the bad, and the ugly. I do not believe in sugarcoating information simply to secure someone’s business. I am a solution-based thinker who gives people practical options and helps them determine the best next step for their situation.

Over the years, I have become a consistent top-producing agent and earned recognition as a platinum performer, but what matters most to me is being someone my clients can trust. I have built my career by communicating honestly, continuing to learn, negotiating strongly, and helping people move forward—even when the transaction is complicated.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Real estate may look glamorous from the outside, but it comes with unpredictable income, changing markets, difficult negotiations, long hours, and problems that rarely happen during normal business hours.

Building a full-time business while raising two children as a single mother has been one of my greatest challenges. I have had to balance personal and financial pressures while remaining steady for my family and the clients depending on me.

Property management and complicated transactions have also taught me how to handle difficult people, distressed properties, repairs, financial hardships, and situations that initially seemed impossible. Those experiences made me resourceful, honest, calm under pressure, and focused on solutions.

The road has not been easy, but every challenge has made me a stronger mother, businesswoman, negotiator, and advocate for my clients.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Real estate allows me to be creative because every property and every person has a different story. Sometimes creativity means designing a marketing plan that helps a home stand out. Other times, it means finding an alternative solution for a distressed property, structuring a difficult transaction, or helping an investor recognize potential that is not immediately obvious.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up in North Killeen, I was curious, independent, outspoken, and always paying attention to what was happening around me. I asked a lot of questions and wanted to understand why things were the way they were—especially when something did not seem fair or logical.

I have always been creative and able to see potential in things other people might overlook. I enjoyed rearranging spaces, coming up with ideas, solving problems, and imagining how something could be improved. I was also very empathetic and could usually sense what people were feeling, even when they did not say it.

I have always had a strong personality, but I also have a big heart. Growing up taught me to be resourceful, loyal, and comfortable thinking differently. Looking back, those qualities were early signs of the entrepreneur, advocate, and solution-based thinker I would eventually become.
