Conversations with Willie Nealy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Willie Nealy.

Hi Willie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a Detroit, Michigan native and a proud military veteran, and I bring over 18 years of marriage and relationship experience to the table. As a devoted husband and father of six, with six grandchildren, I understand firsthand the challenges of balancing personal relationships with professional life.

After watching my mother’s marriage fail and experiencing a failed marriage myself, and two horrible relationships to follow. And in one of those relationships, I almost lost my life. I knew it was time to break the cycle.

When I didn’t die, I knew that there was a purpose for my life. So, I began my journey studying and getting certified as a relationship coach.

My structured coaching approach gives couples practical tools to express their needs, understand their triggers, resolve disagreements, and reconnect as partners. I help couples understand why they keep having the same arguments and teach them how to communicate better and rebuild trust.

Once couples see what’s really driving their disconnect, everything changes—fast. Most clients tell me the first session alone feels like someone finally turned the lights on.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road, lol. As I have tried my best to maintain my focus on building Devine U. I continued to work a nine-to-five job that attempted to fire me right after my wife and I bought our first house.

One day, I observed a gentleman pushing a large number of tables and chairs by himself. I was amazed by his strength and his technique. I said, “Man, you must be like a robot!” Unfortunately, for me, he must have been having a bad day. He stopped what he was doing, pushed me against a wall, and started yelling at me. I apologized to him because I was confused by his anger, but his supervisor witnessed the commotion. We were both written up and suspended, while they attempted to get me fired. At that time, they were unsuccessful.

Several years later. I was diagnosed with stage 1 prostate cancer. I lost my 9-year-old grandson and my dad within a year of each other. And in the same year I lost my dad—which is this year, 2026—I got fired from my 6-figure job on false allegations that I’m unable to defend. This time, they succeeded. But on this same day, founder and creator Theresa Pore invited me to an Unbreakable Zoom call, and it was our first day of meeting. This is where our journey began.

There have been so many hard-fought challenges on this journey, but I know that I am doing what God called me to do.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
“I run Devine U and lead the Unbreakable marriage space. Both are marriage restoration experiences that reveal the hidden needs, patterns, and blind spots that quietly shape every relationship. I help couples rebuild what they thought was lost — understanding, stability, communication, trust, and connection — using a proven restoration framework that creates real change in real time. Most people come to me feeling stuck; they leave feeling renewed.”

I’m known for my compassion, humor and empathy.

I most proud of the couple’s marriages that I have been able to save!

My approach is what sets me apart. Every couple that I have worked with knows that I care and that they are my priority, as many of them have stated. They look forward to our session and they feel comfortable, valued and seen.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the kindness. I don’t care for how spread out everything is.
