Today we’d like to introduce you to Amram Long.
Hi Amram, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Im a Stand Up Comedian and Music Artist (Emcee and Producer), and I started making music in Phoenix where I grew up
and then moved to Madison, WI where my daughter was born and continued there. Many years later I would start doing Stand Up Open Mics in Madison and randomly got an opportunity to move to Austin in 2021 si I did thinking it was about to blow up Comedy wise.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting in Madison was smooth but after coming to Austin I’ve had a few Ups and Downs, After being here for a year or so and getting familiar with the Open Mics and doing a few shows and such, My Father passed away of Leukemia and I had to leave for a while , about 3 months and then came back and got busy again. After about 2 years after that I had a head injury at work and started having seizures after that and had to take some time off and leave Austin again to take care of that. And of course the regular challenges of trying to make a name for yourself and navigate the ever growing scene here in Austin.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Im an Emcee that is not gonna sound like other Emcees and im A Stand Up Comic who won’t sound like other comics, simply. I think thats what im most proud of. And im also proud of my accomplishments in the face of adversity, I’m never gonna give up.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Well both Music and Comedy are very unpredictable, especially since Social Media but I know im going a direction of just trying to be more creative and better at everything I do.
