Hi Ayonte, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started with my first born — One month before I found out I was pregnant with first born, I had launched my first business, Serenity Infused — a natural herbal candle company. My candles were created with coconut wax. I then created my own fragrances by infused natural herbs such as lavender, rose, chamomile, eucalyptus, vanilla and more. After a month of selling, the herbal scents began to make me sick. I no longer loved the smells I once did. I then found out the reason why. It had finally happened. I was pregnant with my first born. Fast forward, I could no longer take making my herbal candles and oils, so I gave it up. I eventually found what I was meant to do.
I realized that during my experience working with the herbal candles, I created my logo, labels, packaging boxes, business cards and all the other promo and marketing material that I needed. That is how it all started. I realized that I was capable of so much more and was ready to share my gift with the world — graphic design & custom apparel.
5 years later since I began this journey, I have assisted over 50 small businesses with establishing their brand identities, and visually telling the story of their businesses. Along with the many businesses I have worked with, I have designed over 500 custom apparel pieces for schools, events, parties and more. As I continue to learn more and expand my knowledge in my field, I look forward to challenging myself, developing new skills, and becoming the best professional I can be.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course not — but anything worth having is worth the fight.
I’ve struggled both mentally and physically during this journey. With the many talents that I have, I find ways that I can share them with the world. This could be me using my creative skills to host & decorate a Galentine’s event, hosting and organizing a community day track meet, hosting classes to share my knowledge with other business owners, or simply creating you a graphic that is detailed, one of a kind, and speaks volumes to your audience. With that being said, I sometimes take on too much that I can handle. I see myself as a creative studio, handling multiple variations of tasks each day, and that can be overwhelming for one person. Though I do have help from family, especially for big events, eventually it all still comes down to me. That physical struggle sometimes leads me to struggling mentally within the business. When I do feel like this, I make sure to take a step back from business to reset.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a creative studio. Though the studio vision may not be there just yet, I still run my business as such. Services I offered, are graphic design, website design, apparel and custom graphics, one on one classes, business branding and marketing, gifts and customs for events and more. I am mostly known for creating one of a kind jerseys. During my career, I have sold over 300 custom jerseys. Some of these jerseys were for alumni events, Mardi Gras, memorial events, birthdays, and more. My clients love seeing my jerseys, and they choose me to create for them because I creatively bring their vision to life through apparel!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I am witnessing now that my industry is being taken over by AI designs. Though that is happening, I am confident in my craft to still provide unique designs to my clients. AI has definitely helped me in some ways to bring my visions to life, and I can see it still being utilized when researching details or trying to to create websites. With these changes that are happening in my industry, I am glad to be able to still offer services that not even AI could take away from me.
