Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsie Kindred.
Hi Chelsie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I actually started out as a college nanny and was just looking for an extra source of income. I decided to take an eyelash extension course, and then COVID hit. During that time, I noticed the beauty industry was still thriving despite everything shutting down, so I decided to take it seriously. I started doing classic lash extensions in my mom’s extra room, mostly on family members, charging around $40.
As my skills and confidence grew, I moved back to Houston for school, invested in a suite, and never looked back. My business grew quickly — I started lashing YouTubers, influencers, and Houston socialites. Eventually, I outgrew my suite and decided to expand back home to Austin, Texas, in 2023. That’s when I became a licensed lash artist and opened my first salon, The Beauty Box, in October 2025.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like I mentioned, I started in my mom’s extra room offering $40 lash extensions. For three years straight, I traveled to Austin biweekly to service clients while juggling college full-time. Once I moved back to Austin, I saved up from my appointments to put myself through lash school and earn my license. For five months, I balanced school in the mornings and clients at night.
In March 2024, I took a big leap and invested $20,000 to open my first salon. Unfortunately, I faced a major setback when my business partner mishandled funds, leading to the loss of that investment. It was a tough experience, but it taught me invaluable lessons about business, trust, and perseverance. Through it all, I’ve learned that determination and resilience are what truly set you apart in this industry.

I’m a licensed lash artist and nonprofit founder based in Austin, Texas. I specialize in lash customization, tailoring every set to complement each client’s unique eye shape. I’m known for welcoming first-time clients and creating natural-looking sets that still bring that everyday wow factor.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come in the industry—building a name for myself, overcoming challenges, and never giving up. What sets me apart is that every appointment is truly an experience, from my personality to the lashes themselves. Why settle for basic when you can be CKute?
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to continue expanding my business, with a strong focus on growing my e-commerce product line. While I’m well-known locally, my goal is to establish an international presence. For me, that doesn’t necessarily mean people knowing me personally—it means they know and trust my product first.
