Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The Clever Tiger Art Gallery began with husband and wife team, Kyle and Ashley Smith. The couple wanted to create a space for up and coming artists to showcase work that locals could enjoy. Throughout the last 9 years, the business has provided a wide range of creative services and events in the Central Texas area.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a fairly smooth road for the local business. The Covid lockdowns was a threat for the business but the gallery shifted gears and by remaining flexible, has been able to steadily grow over the years.

The Clever Tiger’s mission is to cultivate creativity in Central Texas. The gallery hosts a solo exhibition once per month, highlighting a different artist. The gallery has hosted artists local and beyond who cover a variety of styles. Opening and closing events typically include hands-on and interactive aspects for the audience and draw crowds from many surrounding cities. The studio side of the business focuses on private lessons, group lessons, and private events. Private lesson in drawing and painting are available for all ages. Group classes include painting, jewelry, cake/cookie decorating, stitching, and more. The space has been use for a wide variety of events including weddings, baby showers, birthday parties, team building, and more. What set the gallery apart from others is the owners willingness to give back locally. This has created a strong community and welcoming atmosphere.

As small business owners, it makes us happy to show our three daughters what it looks like to create something from the ground up.
