Daily Inspiration: Meet Darlene Neth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darlene Neth.

Hi Darlene, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Imagine lying down, hearing the tuning fork gently ring through your ear, a bell dings, the smell of incense floats through the room. You are guided to deepen your breath. You hear the pulse of the drum beating, taking you through a rhythmic state of trance, the noise softens and the sound bowls start playing, you drift into a space of relaxation and hear a sweet tone of soothing, singing.. then the sound of the ocean drum ripples through, like waves moving, you feel like your have been transported to the beach. This is just a small glimpse of what a session would feel like from me.

Hey there, my name is Darlene Neth. I am a yoga instructor, mobility guide and sound healing practitioner born and raised in Utah and now living in Austin since May of 2023. I was born to parents who survived the genocide in Cambodia in the 70’s. You could say it’s a miracle I’m alive.

I have always had a passion for helping others. In my early years I was a disciplined swimmer and water polo player spending most of my time in the pool, training or traveling to games and swim meets. I later became a personal trainer and ventured into the world of health, wellness and movement.

I weave my passions as a sound healer, yoga teacher, breath work facilitator & mobility guide. My sessions are calming, intuitive and powerful.
In 2018 I began to deepen my spiritual journey and completed a Pranasana Shamanic teacher training course, focusing on working with the energetic body. I learned various modalities including Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping, Mantra, Meditation, Breath work and received my Reiki Master certification.

In 2019 I was gifted my first crystal bowl and you could say that’s when everything started to unravel and unfold. A spark was lit within me.
In 2020 I graduated with my 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) and started teaching at the studio I graduated from in SLC and The Front Climbing Club In Salt Lake City.

When the world shut down I asked myself, What the heck brings me joy? Getting outside was top on the list.
The first thing I decided, was to buy a Yoga SUP board giving me the opportunity to be out on the water, practicing yoga and being in nature. The second thing was I wanted to learn more about the power of sound healing. What a duo right?

In 2021 I graduated from the School Of Sound Therapy. This course helped me gain confidence in myself to further my teachings into sound and gave me a deeper awareness of how powerful sound healing is and what little knowledge people actually know about the therapeutic benefits it can provide. I have been able to tap into my gifts and uncover more of my voice. I gained confidence to share more of my authentic self and create spaces of therapeutic healing.

I have facilitated yoga and sound healing experiences ranging from private sessions, large groups, recovery centers, wellness retreats and festivals.

Music and movement have always been a safe space for me to feel and support my nervous system. I just finished my fourth week of my Dj course where I have been learning how to beat match and mix music. If you know me, you know, I’m almost always moving my body and grooving to good music.

I have an insightful, intuitive presence and enjoy emitting warm and soothing energy that allows others to feel calm, grounded and striving others to get out of their comfort zone.

I am a multi-passionate space holder and creator.
If I’m not in the studio, I’m either in the kitchen whipping up something delicious, outside in nature enjoying the fresh air, grounding my feet in the dirt, thrifting, or grooving and mixing music.

I currently teach regular classes at Crux Climbing and Awkn Ranch in Austin and offer 1:1 and small group sessions. I would love to see you!

Cheers.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think any path is smooth, there’s highs , lows, neutrality and everything in between.

I think we learn most by experiencing obstacles. But it’s nice to bask in the fruit of your labor. It’s all about coming back to balance.

I would say the biggest struggle I had was believing in myself and trusting that I could actually do this. I had imposter syndrome even though I had gone through many trainings, I put in the work but still felt like I had more and more to accomplish or achieve before I could get out into the world. The thing with business and your creative endeavors and sharing your work is you often change throughout the process and you’re never the same person. So learning how to pivot, let things go so other things could unfold was a part of the process.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Currently I am a sound healing practitioner, yoga instructor & mobility & breath work teacher.
I specialize in turning fork sound therapy and sound bowls , well versed in mobility and myofascial release and functional movement.

I am most proud of the courage to continue down a path that not a lot of people have walked through.
I get that everyone has a different path, but being a sound healing practitioner, is not a typical thing most people say. and to top it off, I have dipped my toes in a lot of things, It hasn’t been easy, and I’ve felt very unsure in low moments.

I kept going, I continued to share, be me, deepen my practice, people continue to come to my classes and book sessions with me.

It lights me up seeing students, clients tell me how much they love the way I create a relaxing vibe but also push you to find your edges.

What sets me apart is me doing ME. No one can impersonate you when you are speaking, walking and paving your own unique path, strutting your style and sharing your truth authentically and courageously.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was spunky, sassy, playful and lovable. I enjoyed being outside, playing with friends and family and tapping into my imagination. I remember going to the lake a lot when I was young, catching crawfish, boating and tubing, eating lots of food and being silly.

I have always been a fashionista, I loved being unique and tapping into my eclectic, creative & intuitive personality. I’ve always been really creative and enjoyed art in all forms.

I learned how to swim at age 6 and started competitively swimming until I graduated high school. So a lot of my child hood was spent in the pool or around the pool. I love water and still do.
