Hi Eroll, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I came to America 20 yrs ago to start a Family. I was pursuing a dream of becoming a comic book artist. When my son was born, we find out he has special needs. I put the dream aside to get a stable job with benefits and health insurance for my son. I never gave up that dream, I’m still doing some art gigs on the side not just to make extra income but to feed my passion. I’ve been doing a lot of shows and comic cons to sell my art and travel in different states to do shows using my vacations. most of the time I will take my son with me. Then I got into cars, turns out my son as he grows up he was fond of cars as well. So I was involve in a car community ,I saved up money and bought my first muscle car. I took my kid to a lot of car meets , car shows and even in drag racing where there is crowd. He has a severe anxiety and because of that I took him to comic con and car events , it helps him a lot. During my time being active in car scene I was introduce to detailing cars. At first its just a hobby maintaining my own car and as I was enjoying it , I realized this can be an extra profit for me if I learn the industry. So being in the car community I got so much business and doing it on my days off. Working full time and detailing on weekends, doing comic con once a month.
In 2010 I landed a gig doing story boart art for the first machete movie, I was at the set doing some sketching at that time. That was my biggest achievement in my art career. I was lucky also to get some gaming designs and concept art work on the side.
People ask me all the time , how did I do it? having a full time job and doing side gigs and still manage to spent time with the family. My answer is… I want my time to be productive. My two side gigs (artist and detailing) are my passions and provide me an extra income for my Family. If you want extra in your life you have to do more. I want to live my life learning things as I go and enjoy the fruit of my labor. Do the things that you are passionate with and turn that into something profitable. Dont waste your time on things that wont give you anything in return. As I’m growing old , the clock is ticking on what my body can do. So do as much as you can while you’re young. .I was raised by a Father who is hard working and man of principles . He taught me the way of life that Hard work pays off.. work hard , play hard. Reward yourself so you can be motivated to work. Try to be a good person and obey the Law.
As of now I’m working on my own graphic novel and I’m still in the Comic con scene promoting my art. I’m Enjoying life with my Family , the people that I encounter between comic and car community. Life is good, bring positivity. Stop complaining , complaining is not a solution. See what opportunity you can find , its out there , you just have to learn and take advantage of it. Wealth is not just about money, it’s also what you achieved in life whether its small or big things.. How you inspired people around you is an achievement that you did not expect just by doing what makes you passionate about.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s not. It takes a lot of hard work and perseverance. When I was starting I had to adopt to a new kind of living as an immigrant., although I adjusted quick to my new environment because of me being a people person I guess. . And with the support of my Wonderful Wife, I feel like I can do anything. My Family is my motivation. I had to take any job I can get to support my family. When I was trying to get work in the comic art industry, I had to over come self doubt and insecurity. But I pushed myself and learn how to talk to people and do some networking in-order to get projects. By the help of the fellow artist and people who notice my work, I got some art gig on the side. I just worked my way up .. I took every opportunity I can get
Being a special need dad it was hard, time wise to do other things , I did not see that as a detriment but as motivation to work harder.

I’m known as a graphic artist or freelance artist. I draw comics , I do concept art and designs.
I’m proud that I did work for a movie and cover art for indi comic books.
I guess what set me apart from others is .. I do multiple things.. I work for a company for 18 years as my day job. I’m a freelance graphic artist and I also do car detailing.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Taking a risk on something you believe in is worth taking. I’d rather fail in something I Love to do than fail on something you dont want.
Although as a family man, any decision I make , I have to consider my family, specially If you have a special need son who rely on you. Thats why no matter what, I have to keep my day job. The only risk I’m taking is doing another career outside my day job. And I did it…
