Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Galindo.
Greg, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello and thank you for the opportunity to share my story. I am the middle child of three and the son of a retired Air Force major and a retired educator and pre-school owner. My father and mother were both born and raised in San Antonio. My dad joined the Air Force after graduating college on a full baseball scholarship and the traveling ensued. I was born in Santa Monica, California and moved to Tucson, Arizona and eventually West Germany, before returning back to Texas when I was eight years old with my family. My time spent traveling as a youngster and living overseas really helped shape my perspective of how I view the world and my adventurous spirit. I’m a self admitted extrovert and love meeting new people and traveling to new places. I also have a passion for being involved in my community and being of service, especially in areas that are underserved or largely ignored. I knew somehow I wanted my career to reflect this passion but wasn’t quite sure on how to navigate the process as a young man.
After graduating high school and not quite knowing exactly what I wanted to pursue, I began to get into trouble by partying a bit too much and exploring my entrepreneurial spirit outside of the law. It’s a long story but many hard lessons were learned along the way and I became who I am now because of it. In the process of working to redeem myself and find my way, I also learned my girlfriend (now wife of 15 years) was pregnant. Needless to say this was a pivotal and life altering time for both of us. We were 20 and 18 years old at the time and had no idea of what it meant to become parents. However, God’s ways are not always ours and it was a true blessing in disguise. My daughter, who is now 24 years old and a recent graduate of Baylor University was the best thing that ever happened to us. She brought joy, direction, and a renewed sense of purpose to my life. After working in the retail management space for several years and going to college part-time, I was offered a management position at a local fitness club (Pure Austin), where I managed and trained clients for almost eight years before branching out and starting my own business, “Good Fight Fitness” in 2013. GFF’s motto of “Get fit-Give back” is the backbone of who we are and what we represent. We work with several local non-profits to promote health and wellness for underserved communities and I have personally served as a mentor for Explore Austin (www.exploreaustin.org and RBI Austin, www.rbiaustin.org), with whom I currently serve on the board. In 2015, I acquired my real estate license and have recently transitioned to working as a full-time real estate agent with JB Goodwin, where I am honored to assist friends and family with all of their real estate needs from buying, selling, and investing in homes, land or commercial property. From fitness to real estate, to music (I’m a hip hop artist too), my hope is to bring people together through positivity, inclusion, empathy and community. We are all in it together and we are better because of it!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No! Not smooth at all but nothing truly worth it usually is. From my troubles with the law as a teenager and young adult to becoming a father at twenty years old, I can definitely say the adversity and conflict have strengthened me and made me a more resilient and empathetic human being in the process. I still fight my own demons, especially anxiety and stress, like many of us do, but through my experiences, my faith, consistent exercise and the support of family and great friends, I have been able to navigate these obstacles and persevere. It really does take a village!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In real estate, I learned early on as a home buyer at the age of 23 that purchasing property/real estate was one of the best financial decisions I could have made. It has helped me and so many others that don’t come from wealth, leverage an asset and help secure the path of our financial futures. It’s a great honor to walk alongside my clients, friends, and family and guide them in making one of the most important financial decisions of their life and potentially changing the generational course for their families in the process.
As far as my fitness biz goes, I’m most proud of being able to assist individuals in setting and achieving their own personal fitness and health related goals, while also positively impacting the greater community. People become more confident and empowered through exercise while enjoying the countless benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle. This can resonate in every aspect of their life and helping them find that joy brings me joy.
In music, I aspire to create songs that provoke people to think and act and use their voice to positively impact the world around them. I say my music is “from the soul and for the soul.” If you enjoy music with honest, provocative, and soul filled messages in them, I think you’ll enjoy mine.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Yes, I think having a mentor or an accountability partner is crucial. We all need someone to help guide us and hold us accountable for our actions or inactions, and most importantly, someone that can listen and offer advice without judgment or destructive criticism. I think finding someone with common interests and aspirations that displays integrity and shares your core values is usually a good set of traits to look for in a mentor.
