Daily Inspiration: Meet Hannah Mioton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Mioton.

Hi Hannah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My husband Drew and I moved to Lago Vista, Texas a year and a half ago and saw a need for a fresh food option that also traveled well for going onto the lake. We love subs so we thought why not do subs! We saw a spot come up for lease and decided to just go for it.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Drew and I are new to the food industry and did not hire a consultant so this journey has been one with a steep learning curve but it has been great to be able to learn it all together. We are so thankful for such a supportive community here in Lago as well. I had a blast getting to paint murals in the shop and design the theme. It has been hard work but we are so thankful for where things are at now. One of our biggest struggles the first few days was keeping up with the demand. We were selling over 400 subs a day! We kept running out of bread and even sold our vendor out! We now have commercial fridges and freezers installed at our house and a whole room of inventory to help us keep up. We are all set now and have kept our doors open for over a month!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Drew ran a medical supply company in Dallas before COVID hit and we made the move to Lago Vista. I have spent the last two years teaching first grade.

I love creating community, whether it is in a classroom or in a sub shop. It has been amazing to already see such a community develop at our sub shop and on our social media. I am most proud of how I have gotten to use my artistic skills to build out the sub shop and theme as well as my photography skills to help display our subs on social media.

Drew built our menu and has always had a heart for food. His attention to detail in every sub is what sets him apart. He is constantly looking for what we can do different and what we can add to make our subs extra tasty.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Our community around us has been so supportive of our shop. We are so grateful for Lago and the opportunity we have been given here.
