Daily Inspiration: Meet Katie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie.

Hi Katie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been designing closets for over a decade, spending much of my career in Manhattan working for a larger closet company. I’m originally from Austin, and when my family and I moved back, I saw an opportunity to finally pursue something I had been dreaming about for years – starting my own company.

I wanted to offer a more elevated, bespoke approach to closet design, with an emphasis on beautiful, real wood cabinetry in painted or stained finishes. Closets are often overlooked, but they play such an important role in our everyday lives. I believe they deserve the same level of craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and attention to detail as any other room in the home.

My goal was to create spaces that not only function beautifully but also bring a sense of calm and enjoyment to the daily routine. Working with real wood and truly custom cabinetry allows for so much more creativity and flexibility in the design process, making each project unique to the client and ultimately that much more rewarding.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes and no! The Austin community, from homeowners to fellow designers, has been incredibly welcoming and supportive of me as a small business owner. I’m so grateful for the trust people have placed in me and the opportunity to be part of their homes.

What I wasn’t fully prepared for was the learning curve that comes with running every aspect of a business. There have certainly been challenges and mistakes along the way, but I feel like I’ve taken them in stride. Each experience has helped me refine our process, strengthen the business, and build a team that I’m incredibly proud of.

We’re not perfect, and mistakes happen, but what matters most to me is how we handle them. We stand behind our work, take responsibility, and make sure the end result is something we can all be proud of.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that quality comes at a cost, and that’s something I’m not willing to compromise on. I would rather stand behind a beautifully crafted product that will last than sacrifice the quality of our work to meet a lower price point.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Closets are our specialty and where our passion truly lies, but our expertise extends well beyond the wardrobe. From pantries and mudrooms to laundry rooms, home offices, and media centers, we bring the same thoughtful approach to every space. Our custom cabinetry is crafted from painted or stained real wood, with floor to ceiling designs that maximize every inch. Each project is tailored to compliment the home, while reflecting the individual lifestyle and unique needs of our clients. Our goal is to create spaces that are as beautiful as they are functional, with craftsmanship and attention to detail that stand the test of time.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Communication is such an important part of our process. I believe in setting clear expectations from the beginning, keeping clients informed throughout every stage of the project, and being responsive to any questions or concerns along the way. I want my clients to feel confident that I’m always in their corner, advocating for their vision and making sure every detail comes together as planned. Ultimately, it’s about building trust and creating an experience that feels just as seamless and rewarding as the finished space itself.
