Today we’d like to introduce you to Mandi Hickman.
Hi Mandi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2017 I moved to Austin from New Jersey. I was craving a creative outlet so I started to really get into cooking and photographing my recipes. I was also so inspired by the restaurants and food in Texas.
After a few years it turned into a career. I got paid through brand partnerships and ads on my website. In 2022 I published my cookbook “The Tex-Mex Table.”
Through the years I have also shared a big part of my life and behind the scenes. In 2021 I shared about my infertility and IVF journey and in late 2022 we welcomed our daughter to the world. After that I started to experience more infertility, pregnancy loss and IVF failures.
This past year I launched my IVF journal and planner called “The IVF Edit.” It was something that I would have loved to have in my own journey. A big part of this was healing for me.
Last May we spontaneously got pregnant with our miracle. We are due in January and cannot wait to welcome another little girl to our family!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No! I felt like it was really hard to grow my social media at first and it was really discouraging at times. But, I really stuck it out and kept a failure isn’t an option mindset.
Also, social media is constantly changing! I got really good at photography then video became the next big thing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I run a food blog (dashofmandi.com) and also create and sell IVF planners/journals (The IVF Edit)
I specialize in easy homemade meals and appetizers! I love an approachable recipe with big flavor.
I’m most proud of not giving up on my dreams!
What matters most to you? Why?
Family! Work is important to me. But, family will always come first. Since becoming a mother it has been hard to balance my work and being a stay at home mom. At first I thought I could put 100% into both. But, that just isn’t the case.
