Daily Inspiration: Meet Martin Keene

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martin Keene.

Hi Martin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Born and raised here in Austin Texas, I’ve seen the entertainment industry blossom both with comedy and music being able to create with both o decided to create a show to highlight the growth and potential of artist here in the city, Creating the Show “Beautiful Drunk Show” a late night Variety and interview based show. Now I’m working in my new Show “Scrolling” which is comedians hanging out and both creating and commenting on social media clips and music with a little short story thrown in, think of it a zany look into my mind and dealing with my chaotic and often strange ideas and behaviors.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Constantly being able to change and adapt has helped me prevail, through out the years of my journey I find the ability to adapt and pivot is what proves to make you successful as well as the dedication to your craft. No one is perfect and everyone can improve. Having my show taken over and canceled caused me to start my journey into pure stand up comedy, not being given spots on shows made me think of ways to create my own shows and content. Finding people who want to create with you can definitely help but if it ever becomes a hinderance separate yourself from them. I created my photography and videography business to fill in something I found others were missing which also has been a door opener for me to get larger gigs as well

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
From creating content and talk shows, to taking photographs and filming, to doing stand up comedy or hosting a show I’ve done it all and continue to do it all. I’m most proud currently of my stand up comedy and my new show “Scrolling” releasing at the end of this month. I think what separates me from the others is my ability to do everything I set my mind to. Every time I was told no or couldn’t get anyone to help I found a way to do it and create by myself.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m a single father to my adopted son. One of the best things in my life he just turned 16 and is beginning his journey into creating some pretty cool things to come! Stay tuned
