Monika, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in Havana, Cuba, where I discovered my love for performing at a very young age. I first stepped onto a stage when I was eight years old, and from that moment on, I knew music and entertainment would always be a part of who I am.
Over the years, I worked as a singer, actress, and performer while continuing to develop my own artistic voice. Like many artists, my journey has come with challenges, including starting over in a new country. After moving to Texas, I had to rebuild my career from the ground up while balancing work, family, and my dream of creating original music.
Today, I’m an independent recording artist based in Austin, Texas. I create original music, perform live, and connect with audiences every day through social media, especially TikTok Live. I’m passionate about sharing authentic stories through my music and inspiring people to keep believing in their dreams, no matter how difficult the path may seem.
This is only the beginning of my journey. I’m currently working on new music and growing my career one step at a time, with the goal of reaching audiences around the world while staying true to who I am as an artist.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I believe that pursuing a career in the arts constantly tests your patience, discipline, and ability to keep going even when results don’t come as quickly as you’d hope.
One of my biggest challenges has been starting over in a new country. Moving to the United States meant rebuilding my career from the ground up, adapting to a new culture, learning a new language, and working to support myself while continuing to pursue my dream of making music.
Balancing my personal life with my career has also been a challenge. Being a mother has given me an even stronger reason to keep pushing forward and build a better future, even during the hardest moments. Whenever I face obstacles or self-doubt, I remind myself why I started.
Over time, I’ve learned that success doesn’t happen overnight. It’s built through consistency, continuous learning, and the decision to never give up. Every challenge has made me stronger and has helped shape me into not only a better artist, but also a better person.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a singer, songwriter, actress, and content creator. My work is centered around connecting with people through music—whether that’s performing, creating content, or developing my own artistic projects.
Right now, I’m focused on releasing original music while building an authentic community on platforms like TikTok, where I regularly go live and share not only my music but also the creative journey behind it. I enjoy giving people the opportunity to know both the artist and the person behind the music.
What I love most is telling stories that evoke emotion and allow people to see themselves in my songs. I believe music has the power to accompany us through life’s most meaningful moments, and that’s the impact I hope to make with everything I create.
What I’m most proud of is continuing to move forward without giving up on my dreams, even when I’ve had to start over. Every milestone has been earned through dedication and perseverance, which makes each achievement even more meaningful.
I believe what sets me apart is my authenticity. I’m not trying to follow every trend or create a perfect image. I want people to see who I truly am—my strengths, my challenges, and my passion for music. To me, success isn’t just about reaching more people; it’s about creating a genuine connection with those who listen to my music.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is my family, inspiring others, and staying true to my values.
My son is my greatest motivation. Every decision I make and every step I take in my career is driven by my desire to build a better future for him and to show him that dreams are worth fighting for, even when the journey is difficult.
I also care deeply about creating music that genuinely connects with people. I hope my songs can bring comfort, hope, or simply remind someone that they are not alone. I believe that’s one of the greatest gifts music can offer.
Finally, it is very important to me to grow without losing who I am. In an industry where there can be pressure to follow trends or become someone you’re not, I want people to know me for my authenticity. I’d rather build a meaningful career based on hard work, consistency, and genuine connections with my audience.
