Today we’d like to introduce you to Pablo Groves.
Hi Pablo, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Cuts for Christ began with a simple desire to serve. Years ago, I started providing free haircuts to individuals experiencing homelessness in downtown Austin, Texas. As a licensed cosmetologist, I quickly realized that the haircut was often just the beginning. Behind every chair was an opportunity to listen, encourage, and share hope.
What started in my own salon soon became a Ministry. Conversations about life naturally led to discussions about faith, scripture, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Relationships were built, lives were touched, and many individuals made decisions to follow Christ all within the walls of my shop.
The vision expanded after attending a revival service that featured Christian rap worship, powerful testimonies, preaching, and an altar call. It was there that I felt inspired to take Cuts for Christ out to the communities. By offering free haircuts at Outreach events, I was able to serve practical needs while continuing to share the message of hope with an even wider audience.
Today, six years later, that vision has grown into PSJ Christ’s Xtreme Harvest Ministries, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving communities through faith-based outreach. Together, our family of six travels locally, throughout Texas, and across the nation participating in and organizing community Outreach events.
Our Outreaches provide free food, community resources, cotton candy, live music, guest speakers, Gospel presentations, and free haircuts through Cuts for Christ. What began with a single stylist chair has grown into an operation utilizing anywhere from three to twelve barber and cosmetology stations. We now partner with barber and cosmetology schools, giving students the opportunity to serve alongside us while making a meaningful impact in their communities.
As the haircut Ministry has grown and others have stepped in to lead that portion of the Outreach including my sons and partnering schools, I have been able to focus more on preaching, ministering to individuals, and offering baptisms at events.
Today, PSJ Christ’s Xtreme Harvest Ministries serves as the foundation for a wide range of Outreach. While Cuts For Christ remains an important part of that mission, it is now one of many ways we serve families, youth, and individuals through community events, discipleship, resource connections, and faith based encouragement. Always sharing the hope found in Jesus Christ. We have been blessed to have served and operated hundreds of Outreaches, witnessing thousands of salvations to Christ and baptisms.
Every opportunity, every Outreach, every volunteer, and every life impacted is a testament to God’s faithfulness. None of this would be possible without Jesus Christ, who continues to open doors, provide resources, and guide our mission. What began with one chair and a willing heart has grown into a Ministry dedicated to serving others, sharing hope, and making a lasting difference in communities wherever God leads us.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey has been fruitful, but it has not always been easy. Like many nonprofits and Ministries, we have faced challenges along the way. Funding has often been one of the biggest obstacles, as providing free services and organizing community events requires significant resources. There have been moments of exhaustion, uncertainty, and times when we questioned how the next Outreach event would come together. But, despite the challenges, it has strengthened our faith and time and time again, we have seen God provide the volunteers, partnerships, resources, and opportunities needed to continue serving communities. Every struggle has become part of our testimony, reminding us that the Ministry was never built on our own abilities but on God’s provision and guidance.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I seek to boldly share the Gospel and encourage people to follow Christ. My passion is sharing Jesus, calling people to repentance, and helping them develop a genuine relationship with Christ. What sets me apart is that Ministry is not limited to a platform. Whether I am at an Outreach, behinds a barber chair, or speaking to a crowd, I believe every opportunity is a chance to share the Gospel. I am known for speaking truth with love, addressing sin, and pointing people toward the forgiveness, freedom, and new life found in Jesus Christ. What I am most proud of is seeing lives transformed by God’s grace. There is no greater joy than watching someone surrender their life to Christ and begin their journey of faith.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I do not believe in luck. Instead, I have seen God’s hand at work through both blessings and challenges. Some of the most difficult times became opportunities to trust Him more deeply and witness His faithfulness firsthand. There have been times when resources seemed limited, volunteers were few, or obstacles appeared too great, but God always made a way. This Ministry exists because of Jesus Christ. What some may call “luck”, I call God’s faithfulness. He continues to guide, provide, and lead us every step of the way.
