Daily Inspiration: Meet Samara Alsaffar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samara Alsaffar.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Movie At Moonlight began as a passion project between my husband and me, and has grown into something that means so much to our family. We are a local, family-owned business, and at the heart of what we do is a simple belief: Some of the best memories are made when people come together, and that idea has always been a big part of who we are. My husband and I have naturally always been the hosts in our friend group and in our family. We love opening our home, planning gatherings, and creating spaces where people feel comfortable, connected, and genuinely enjoy each other’s company. There is something incredibly fulfilling about bringing people together and watching meaningful moments unfold. It gives us a strong sense of connection and reminds us how important community really is. When we started Movie At Moonlight we wanted to turn that passion into something we could share with others by combining our love of hosting with the magic of movies and storytelling.

There is something special about storytelling. Movies allow us to laugh, cry, feel inspired, and escape from everyday life for a little while. We realized there was no better way to bring people together than by creating unforgettable outdoor movie nights where friends, families, and communities could gather together. What started with a simple idea quickly turned into a business that has allowed us to be part of birthdays, school events, neighborhood events, and so many other meaningful celebrations.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like any small business, there have definitely been challenges along the way. One of the biggest challenges has been simply building awareness. Many people do not realize that a business like Movie At Moonlight exists. When we first started, we found that a lot of people were surprised to learn they could transform their own backyard into a private outdoor movie theater.
Because the concept is still relatively unique, a large part of our journey has involved educating potential customers about what we offer and helping them envision the experience. We have had to invest a lot of time into marketing, social media, and word-of-mouth to show people just how memorable and magical these events can be.
As with any entrepreneurial journey, there have also been the usual challenges of building a brand from the ground up, balancing full-time work, being full-time student and personal responsibilities, and learning as we go.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am currently a student and will be graduating this semester, which feels incredibly exciting because it marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of a completely new one. Throughout my career, I have worked with several local businesses as well as big corporations in retail management. Those experiences taught me how to truly listen to people, understand their needs, and create experiences that not only meet expectations but exceed them. More importantly, they taught me that the smallest details often make the biggest difference in how people feel.

That mindset is at the heart of everything we do at Movie At Moonlight, we are most proud of creating a business that is centered on connection, joy, and meaningful moments.

My husband, Mostafa, brings a completely different but equally valuable perspective to Movie At Moonlight. He is a tech engineer who specializes in cybersecurity. Being in cybersecurity has taught him the importance of precision, attention to detail, and thoughtful execution, because even the smallest decision can have significant consequences.

He has brought that same mindset into our business. Thanks to his technical expertise, we were able to build a seamless online booking platform that allows our customers to schedule their events with ease and confidence. His work behind the scenes ensures that our systems are efficient, reliable, and user-friendly.

Having lived in several states, Mostafa has also developed a unique understanding of how different communities and markets operate. That broader perspective has helped us think creatively about our business and adapt our services to meet the needs of a wide range of customers. Together, our backgrounds complement one another, combining hospitality, customer experience, and technology to create something that feels both personal and professional.

What sets us apart is that we genuinely care about every event and every family we work with. For us, this business is about more than movies, it is about creating memories people will hold onto long after the screen comes down.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
