Daily Inspiration: Meet Stevie and Sazan Hendrix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stevie and Sazan Hendrix.

Hi Stevie and Sazan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We’re Sazan and Stevie- digital content creators on the internet who welcome you into our virtual Home—a space for us to pour our hearts into and connect with you on another level. We’re so glad you’re here!

Before “influencers” and the millions of followers and hundreds of thousands of views, traveling around the world to work with globally recognized brands and fulfilling our television dreams, we met in college studying Radio, TV and Film. After moving to LA, we faced the harsh realities of trying to break into the entertainment industry, struggled to pay our bills and tested our convictions in our dreams. When we decided to get married, we faced the biggest challenge of all: breaking cultural barriers and withstanding family disapproval in order to be together. We knew that together, we could do anything, and in the face of every adversity, we’ve built our family and never stopped believing that God had big plans for us.

Two years ago, we took the first steps on this journey to bring to life something that had been nestled deep in our hearts. After launching our podcast, we realized how amazing it felt to connect with people on a real level. However, our mission didn’t feel complete just yet.

We needed to clear the land before we could break ground. We took time off to tuck away. We put in place routines to give our day to day life more balance. We parted ways with the old to make room for the new. This meant closing the book on things that no longer fit our growing vision so we could open up a new chapter with a clean slate and clear minds. We invested time and energy into learning how to start a business ourselves.

Over the years, our dreams and hustle in our one bedroom apartment molded into side gigs, which transformed into the content and connection that we share with our millions of followers and “online fam.” But even with all of our success, we kept searching for more and didn’t know why what we’d built didn’t feel like enough. In 2017, our world was rocked when we unexpectedly became pregnant, and as scary as it was, we had no idea how this “Teeny” blessing would change us for the better.

Sitting around the table one morning with our newborn daughter, we came to the realization that our priorities had shifted. We no longer wanted to live a life that was just about us – promoting ourselves constantly or hustling after the next accolade or metric. We wanted to bring more GOOD to the world. We made a vow to start creating content with a purpose. A year later, The Good Life with Stevie and Sazan podcast was born.

For the last three years, we have been sharing heartfelt, real, and inspiring messages through our podcast, but we still didn’t feel like our mission was complete. While we’ve tucked away and built our home and Good Life, we want others to see, feel, and experience The Good Life firsthand. That’s why we’ve created this site: as a place for you to feel inspired and at home while also offering you goods that can help you feel more connected to your life.

It’s our goal to help others experience a deeper sense of joy and fulfillment here that’s often missing from the world we live in both on and offline. There are no milestones to hit here. No weight goals you need to make. No amount of pressure, money or social standing that matters. We want to invite you to sit at our table exactly as you are and let us help you cultivate a life full of joy and fulfillment.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’ve had to overcome a number of trials over the course of our ten years of relationship. We’ve encountered cultural barriers, industry trials and tribulations, as well as moving to a new city for eight years to then feel called back home here in Austin. We’ve seen lessons learned as self-employed business owners who have made a few lots of mistakes and have had to learn how to pave our own steps in the social media/influencer world, which was a journey that started over a decade ago before it was the cool thing. We’ve managed to work together online while fueling a real and intentional life off-line and learning with every new season will come good things and hard challenges. We’re learning that good and hard can co-exist. We’re seeing how to create a life that has balance between business and babies and how our public influence affects more than an online community but the community/families we meet in real life. We’ve also seen our faith tested more than once and the beauty that can come from adversity. If you open your heart to what broken can bring, you can find memories, connection and love.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We own our own virtual world called Stevie + Sazan. http://stevieandsazan.com, as well as a podcast called The Good Life with Stevie and Sazan with 19+Million downloads. We also have a combined reach of over 1.8 million “online family members” through our social platforms.
