Today we’d like to introduce you to The Tiarras – Tori, Sophia and Tiffany Baltierra.
Hi Tori, Sophia and Tiffany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up, music was always around us. From family parties, to our parents playing their favorite songs in the car, to following our Dad around at his DJ gigs, to then picking up an instrument of our choice. Through individual music lessons, we learned the logical and tactile parts of music. Through music lessons as a group, we learned how to feel the power and connection of music, especially as sisters. Our parents saw a great talent in us and encouraged us to perform at family parties and at small community events. From there, we experienced a snowball effect of finding our voices while growing up in the live music capital of the world. Through the years of balancing school and being in a band, we found local success, used our voices for good, and added to the growing representation of Latinas in music in Austin. Holding onto the momentum we created, we signed with Lucky Hound Music in 2020 and began blossoming through the pandemic years into the women we are today. Through loss, love, and life, we have reached the year that we release our debut album. A project that encapsulates so much of our experiences, collectively and individually. It showcases our joy, grief, sisterhood, and acts like a time capsule of our journey to this point.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Being an all woman band in a male dominated industry has come with its challenges. When we were younger, there were definitely moments when we felt like we weren’t taken as seriously or had to prove ourselves before people recognized what we were capable of. But as we reflect back, those experiences made us more determined to take up space and keep doing what we love. One of the most rewarding parts of where we are at now is knowing that, in some way, we’ve helped to create a path for younger girls and women coming behind us. If they see women on stage, expressing themselves authentically, and know that there’s a place for them there too, that makes everything we had to push through feel meaningful.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are a sister trio from Austin, Tx. Tori plays guitar and is our lead singer, Sophia is our drummer, and Tiffany plays bass. Our music can be considered anthemic, eclectic, or an homage to the way we perceive the world. We’re known for bringing folks together through our love for our culture, our sister energy, and the way we mix inquisitive lyrics with a catchy beat.
What sets us apart is the bond we share as sisters. There’s an unspoken connection that comes from growing up together, making music together, and experiencing life side by side. That connection naturally finds its way into our music and our performances. We’re not just three musicians playing together — we’re family, and that creates a unique energy that we hope audiences can feel.
We’re especially proud to be releasing our debut album, Moon En Flor, on September 18, 2026. The album is a reflection of where we’ve been and who we’ve become, both collectively and individually. It carries pieces of our joy, grief, culture, growth, and sisterhood, and feels like a time capsule of our journey so far. After years of growing up in Austin’s music community, balancing school, life, and being in a band, Moon En Flor represents a really meaningful milestone for us — and we’re excited to finally share this chapter with the world.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
We’ve always felt like luck has played a really interesting role in our lives and our business. There have definitely been moments where we recognize that we were lucky to be in the right place at the right time — growing up in Austin, the Live Music Capital of the World, having parents who encouraged our creativity, and being surrounded by music from such a young age. Even meeting the right people and having opportunities come our way has sometimes felt like pure luck. (i.e signing with our wonderful label Lucky Hound Music)
But we’ve also learned that luck doesn’t always look like something good in the moment. The pandemic, loss, and some of the unexpected challenges we’ve faced as individuals and as a band forced us to slow down, grow, and really figure out who we were. Those experiences ultimately shaped the music we’re making today and brought us closer as sisters.
So, for us, luck has been less about things simply falling into our laps and more about being given opportunities — both beautiful and difficult — and choosing what to do with them. We’ve tried to stay open, work hard, and keep moving forward when doors open, while also creating our own opportunities when they don’t.
Looking back, we’re grateful for all of it: the lucky breaks, the setbacks, the people who believed in us, and even the moments that didn’t go according to plan. Somehow, all of those pieces brought us here, to the release of our debut album, and we feel very lucky to be experiencing this chapter together as sisters
