Emily Vazquez’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Emily Vazquez and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
As a Registered Dietitian and someone who used to have my own food/body image struggles, I think there are many women and men out there who struggle with both of these things as well even if they don’t want to admit it. Because our society places so much pressure to look a certain way and an emphasis on dieting/weight loss, it makes sense why people are so confused about how to fuel their bodies. I just hope that if anyone who is reading this does struggle, that there IS good support and help out there no matter how “bad” you think these struggles are.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Emily Vazquez and I am a Registered Dietitian, online women’s health coach and business owner. I work with women all over the world showing them how to fuel and nourish their bodies without extreme diets. Majority of the women who come to me have struggled with food, body image and their relationship with exercise for as long as they can remember. This often leads to some underlying health issues as well such as hormone imbalances, digestive issues, sleep issues and low energy availability. My mission is rooted in helping women heal internally, achieving food freedom and being able to live their lives without food or diet noise.

I knew my purpose was to get into the field of nutrition when I had struggled and overcame an eating disorder when I was in my adolescent years. I had to reach my own personal low in my life to show me the power that nutrition really does have in both our physical and mental health. My focus right now is 1:1 coaching because I know it can be hard to find the right support out there for this, but do offer group coaching several times a year as well.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I used to believe that I was a shy person and that I was always going to be very introverted/reserved. When I got into online coaching and started my business to where I had to speak to others every day and public speak to an audience, it helped me to break out of that shell. I know can see that I actually am not as reserved as I once thought I was and love speaking with others on a daily basis.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh absolutely! Or I should say that it always occurred to me that giving up on myself was a “option” – I just never did. I believe that if you want something bad enough, you will do whatever it takes to achieve that thing. You build confidence by doing the hard things without knowing the exact result – and building confidence as you go.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes! If there is one thing you should know about me is that I don’t care about “fitting in” to what is most popular. I also don’t really care if not everyone likes me or agrees with me, I choose to be authentic because that is a huge value of mine.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that people remember me for being kind. Someone that they could go to when they needed support and someone that would listen. I want to be remembered for making a difference and having an impact in this world.
