Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Flores.
Hi Alexis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been passionate about health and wellness, but my journey into holistic health truly began before the birth of my son 10 years ago. My husband, Chris, and I were always looking for alternative routes to traditional medicine when we were sick.
I stumbled upon elderberry syrup and began reading about its many amazing benefits. We bought some from the store, and while it did help, we noticed that many of the ingredients weren’t truly natural. That’s when I started making my own in our tiny two-bedroom apartment, using raw, local honey.
We were amazed at how effective it was, so we began making it for friends and family. Over time, we heard testimony after testimony about how our syrup helped prevent illness or helped people recover more quickly.
About a year ago, we expanded into whipped tallow after I had already been making it for myself and my family for over a year. My mom suggested I start selling it alongside our elderberry syrup, and it has quickly become our number one seller.
We are deeply passionate about what we do, and the more we hear about our products truly helping people, the more it fuels our desire to keep going and serving our community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. We had no prior experience running a business or realizing just how much goes into it. In the early months at the farmers market, there were times when we barely made any sales at all. I often questioned whether this was the right decision.
But we didn’t give up. Slowly, we began building trust within our community, and then the testimonies started pouring in. We endured long, scorching summer days and freezing winter mornings at the market, and now we are finally seeing the fruit of those early sacrifices.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We specialize in immune-boosting organic elderberry syrup and whipped tallow skincare. Our focus is on using herbs as healing. Each of our whipped tallow products is infused with herbs and/or flowers from the earth. We believe in taking it back to the basics and using what nature intended above all else.
What sets us apart is that we don’t take shortcuts. While others buy pre-rendered tallow or use cheap oils, we know our farmer by name and hand-render our tallow ourselves.
Above all, we are most proud of our love for people and our community. We truly enjoy helping others—whether internally or externally. Over time, we’ve built a beautiful community here in our little town, and we are deeply grateful for every customer and friend we’ve met along the way.
We want people to know that all of our products are made with love, intention, and the highest-quality ingredients. Also, like our name suggests, there is wisdom in the wildflowers.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
We are a faith-based business, and our favorite book—and the inspiration behind the imagery of our logo—is the Bible. When life gets hectic, I love to decompress by diving into historical fiction, a genre I’m truly passionate about. I’m also drawn to the wisdom shared on The Dr. Josh Axe Podcast, which provides valuable insight into holistic, faith-aligned health and wellness.
