Today we’d like to introduce you to Aric & Nataly Besselievre.
Hi Aric & Nataly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Nataly was born and raised in California. Moved to Texas in 2007 to be with her boyfriend at the time. Had a baby girl that same year. When her daughter turned two, she became a single mother. Working full time struggling with bills and daycare. Working at HEB for ten years, she decided she wanted more for herself and daughter. She decided to enroll into Avenue 5 where she studied to become an esthetician. Working two jobs seven days a week for three solid months, she took the leap of faith and worked full time at a franchise for a couple of years.
She eventually decided she was ready to go on her own where she started her own business with just her last paycheck and a small amount of savings.
She started out at Salon Republic with n0 clientele. She worked very hard to get her business out there. By the end of 2020, She rebranded her business to HoneyBe Gorgeous LLC and moved to a boutique while finding out she was pregnant. At the boutique, her landlord jeopardized her business, forcing her to move after only being there for eight months. As soon as she came back from maternity leave she found a new location, moved and remodeled it to the new look it has now. Her business has continued to grow. But more importantly, she didn’t just create this business for fun, it was to help empower women. She loves what she does helping people enhance their inner and outer beauty.
(Aric) After eight years of working for a publicly-traded energy company, I quit my career to pursue a health insurance business. After a year of struggle, plus the passing of the ACA, the business failed and I decided to move to Texas with a girlfriend of the time, completely broke, with $25K in debt. I moved at a time when so many people were moving here, I was told one of the jobs I applied for had over 1000 applicants so far. Luckily my partner had a small amount of savings that paid the rent. But after a month and a half passed without any job prospects above $10/hr. I started my business with a $3,000 loan from my father. The first two years were brutal: Cleaning people’s filthy vehicles in 115 degree sun, every day seven days a week. I saved every penny. I was finally able to get my first small location leasing a parking lot with a tent on a corner near downtown. As the time progressed, I was able to expand to an actual shop, after which I launched Auto Detailing Austin, Auto Tinting Austin and Headlight Restoration Austin. Fast forward six years, all three businesses are considered the highest rated (5-stars) for their categories. We now have ten employees.
Nataly and I met about a year ago, and just like our businesses, we don’t skip a beat. We managed to marry, move and have a beautiful baby girl all within the time of meeting.
Things are still pretty crazy, as we now juggle the baby and our businesses. This past weekend was our first night with a babysitter after three long months of a colic newborn.
To this day, Nataly and I are very dedicated to helping others. I try to donate and volunteer with the homeless regularly and Nataly spends time working to help empower women. We have dreams of helping people on a much larger scale.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a struggle for us both, from having money shortages, Covid shutdowns, a new baby, deaths in the family, employee theft and embezzlement, illegal competitor activities, and just the overall stress of seven days with two business and little sleep.
