Today we’d like to introduce you to Ferlise Nolan.
Ferlise, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My family(myself husband Eugene and two children Rebecca (20)Nathan(17) have been in Dripping Springs for 3 and half years, originally from Cape Town South Africa..
We immigrated for the opportunities given to both our very athletic children and decided to make the move so we would be closer and able to support them through their college NCAA journeys.
We always knew we would open our own boarding that allowed more of an easier stay for pups with a home away from home concept.
Starting and managing your own business is always full time and with all the different pups personalities it’s never dull at the Ranch. We have some of the high school students who work over the weekend and holidays and it’s wonderful to give them a safe place to make some extra pocket money.
As we keep growing our name in the community we love being dedicated to caring for fur babies ,I especially have a soft spot for our elderly and anxious pups who to be honest when they leave have shed all anxiety. and seem to have forgotten their age.
It’s rewarding to see how they interact with new friends and the fun and change
gives them renewed energy.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Comming from Cape Town we are used to 4 seasons in a day here in Texas we are getting used to all kinds of weather here too.Learning to manage the below zero temps has been a learning curve but we got it all figured out.Our kennels have full cool/heat aircon.
Being away from our family and friends that we have had for decades has been hard and we treasure when family travel from South Africa to visit us.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We live on property and its truly all about the pups and their needs. Our boarding/daycare is structured so that it accommodates every pup and what they require to be safe and comfortable during their stay
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Playing Cowboys and Indians with my sisters and brother with our huge black lab Nelson who to a 7yr old was like our own stallion
