Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabel Meijering.
Hi Isabel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was originally accepted into veterinary school—a path I believed I had wanted for as long as I could remember. But once immersed in it, I found myself deeply unfulfilled. After some honest self-reflection and inner work, I came to the realization that my passion didn’t lie in western medicine. I’ve always loved animals, and I thought that becoming their doctor would naturally bring me joy. But it didn’t.
In time, I came to understand that there are countless ways to serve and support animals beyond being a veterinarian. So I got still, tuned in, and asked the universe how I might merge my western academic background with my personal passions for yoga, holistic healing, and energy work. The answer came clearly: acupuncture.
Acupuncture offered a beautiful bridge between eastern and western modalities, and studying the body through this lens ignited something in me I hadn’t felt in a long time. I followed that spark—applied to acupuncture school, moved to Austin, Texas, and haven’t looked back since.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been both a smooth and not-so-smooth road getting to where I am today. Two of the biggest challenges I’ve faced have been financial—and choosing to walk my own path, even when it didn’t make sense to others.
I built Admiring You Wellness with intention, allowing it to grow slowly and sustainably. I made a conscious choice to keep a part-time job while building my business so I wouldn’t accumulate debt. In our culture, I think we often undervalue slow growth; we’re so conditioned to crave instant results. But I’m truly grateful I gave myself permission to grow at a pace that felt aligned, even when it was hard in the beginning.
Another big piece of the journey was learning to trust myself fully. When I shifted careers, there were plenty of opinions from others. And the truth is, I don’t rely heavily on logic when making decisions. I move through life intuitively, and from the outside, that can sometimes look a little chaotic. But I’ve learned to tune out the noise and only take in feedback from those who truly understand the path I’m walking. It’s not about who’s right or wrong; it’s just that not all perspectives are helpful, and at the end of the day, the confidence has to come from within.
That’s probably the most important lesson I’ve learned. And now, having built two successful businesses, I can say with certainty that my faith—in myself and in the universe—has absolutely been worth it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When a client comes to me, I look at the whole person in body, mind, soul, and spirit to get patients functioning in their lives the way they have always wanted to, or have not been able to because of either physical or emotional pain and blocks. My love for working with the mind-body connection started with an introduction to yoga and grew from there. I also became a certified Tuina practitioner through the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA) and specialize in cupping therapy through the International Cupping Therapy Association (ICTA). This led me to first start practicing with releasing pain and emotions through acupuncture and bodywork. I noticed a deeper need for emotional healing with many clients and went on to become a hypnotherapist and life coach. Through all of the modalities I practice, I focus on being able to help clients tune in to their bodies, minds, spirits and souls in order to heal. I come up with a treatment plan for each client based on their individual needs and desires; I know there is no one size fits all healing plan.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Integrity. I truly do not practice anything I have not first experienced myself or that has not changed my life. I believe this is why I am so passionate about what I do; I am walking the walk.
