Exploring Life & Business with James Wolfgang Kuntz of Tarrytown Roofing

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Wolfgang Kuntz

Hi James Wolfgang, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
James Kuntz didn’t take the typical path to roofing. He started out as a cowboy in Mexico, then worked with some of the top companies in logistics tech, financial services, and roofing. Eventually, he decided to build his own team of like-minded individuals, and that’s how Tarrytown Roofing was born.

James and his crew are all about constant improvement and making a real difference in the industry.

When he’s not working, you can find James outdoors—whether it’s around a campfire, hunting, fishing, or hanging out with his wife, Gracie, and their two labs, Maverick and Luna. Together, James and Gracie are excitedly awaiting the arrival of their baby girl Charlotte Day Kuntz.

With years of hands-on experience and deep industry knowledge, James has become one of the top roofing experts in Austin and surrounding areas. He stands as an industry leader for anything roofing-related for both commercial and residential jobs in the state of Texas.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No but I’ve been resilient. So many give up right before life is about to change. Struggles include starting over in a new industry but I see it as a superpower

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Yes starting a business and betting on yourself is a risk but so is living in fear. Calculated risk and being confident enough before you start taking steps is important. Commitment and consistency hand in hand.
