Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Dunworth.
Hi Laura, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
There was a time in my life when I didn’t know how to slow down or tend to what my body was holding. In my twenties, when my younger brother — my best friend growing up — died suddenly in an accident, my world shifted in ways I didn’t yet know how to name. Grief lived in my body as tightness, exhaustion, digestive issues, shallow breath, and restless sleep. I felt deeply lonely and unprepared, carrying emotions I didn’t know how to release or move through.
I knew I needed healing, but I had never been taught how to work with grief, anxiety, or big emotions. So I began searching. Through the healing arts of meditation, breath work, yoga, sound healing, and energy healing, I slowly found my way back to myself. As my body softened and my breath deepened, a new sense of peace and intuition emerged. I felt connected again — to myself, to life, and to my brother through quiet signs and synchronicities that reminded me I was not alone.
That healing journey didn’t close me off; it opened me in a profound way. It revealed how deeply I care about helping others experience what I had slowly relearned — how to create calm, peace, and presence in their lives. Today, I feel called to support adults and children who are navigating grief, stress, overwhelm, or the constant noise of daily life. I help them slow down, breathe, reconnect with their bodies, and listen to their inner voices. Through simple, embodied tools, I guide them in moving trapped emotional energy and remembering their natural state of calm, coherence, and connection.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My path into teaching and writing about healing wasn’t something I planned. It grew out of my own life experiences and the challenges that shaped me long before I understood what they meant.
I grew up in a home marked by divorce, and from an early age I learned to become strong, responsible, and adaptable. Like many children in similar situations, I didn’t always feel there was space to express what I was feeling. Instead, I learned to hold my emotions inside, believing that staying strong meant staying quiet. For years, I carried stress, sadness, and worry without realizing how deeply they were affecting me.
As I got older, I began to understand that the body keeps score. The emotions we don’t process don’t simply disappear—they often show up physically through stress, anxiety, exhaustion, illness, or a persistent feeling that something isn’t quite right. My own body became one of my greatest teachers, encouraging me to slow down, pay attention, and begin listening instead of pushing through.
One of the most profound turning points in my life was the death of my brother. Grief has a way of changing everything. It asks difficult questions and often leaves us searching for meaning in the midst of heartbreak. That loss became the catalyst for a much deeper spiritual journey than I had ever imagined.
During that journey, I began noticing signs and synchronicities—meaningful moments that couldn’t easily be explained but brought comfort, hope, and a sense of connection. Whether it was a perfectly timed encounter, a symbolic message, or an unexpected feeling of peace, these experiences reminded me that love doesn’t end with physical death and that we are often being guided in ways we don’t immediately recognize.
Learning to trust those experiences required me to quiet my mind and open my heart. I discovered practices such as breathwork, meditation, mindfulness, yoga, and nervous system regulation that helped me reconnect with myself. Instead of ignoring my body, I learned to listen to it. Instead of suppressing emotions, I learned to acknowledge and move through them with compassion.
Those experiences transformed not only my own healing but also my life’s purpose.
Today, I teach because I know what it feels like to struggle with grief, stress, anxiety, and uncertainty. I write because I want others to know they are not alone. My mission is not to tell people how to heal but to provide tools, hope, and gentle guidance so they can reconnect with their own inner wisdom.
Healing isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about remembering who we were before fear, loss, and life’s challenges convinced us otherwise. Every experience I’ve lived—even the painful ones—has become part of the message I now share: that healing is possible, our bodies hold incredible wisdom, and even in our darkest moments, there can be signs, purpose, and light waiting to guide us forward.
We’ve been impressed with Vitality Life Online, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Over the years, my own healing journey inspired me to deepen my education and become certified in a variety of holistic wellness practices. Each certification has added another layer of understanding about the incredible connection between the mind, body, and spirit.
I am a certified Yoga Teacher, Meditation Instructor, Sound Healing Practitioner, and Energy Healing Practitioner. While each modality is unique, they all share the same purpose—to help people slow down, reconnect with themselves, regulate their nervous system, and create space for healing.
Today, I offer individual and group sessions that combine these practices in a way that meets people wherever they are on their journey. Some people come seeking relief from stress and anxiety. Others are navigating grief, burnout, or major life transitions. My goal is never to “fix” someone, but to create a safe, supportive environment where healing can naturally unfold.
Whether I’m leading a yoga class, guiding a meditation, facilitating a sound bath, or offering an energy healing session, I want people to leave feeling calmer, more grounded, and more connected to themselves. I also work with schools, businesses, wellness retreats, and community groups, helping people develop practical tools they can use every day to improve their emotional and physical well-being.
Writing became a natural extension of that mission.
My Breathe Easy book series was created to teach simple, science-backed breathing techniques that help children, teens, teachers, and families manage stress, anxiety, and overwhelming emotions. These books make mindfulness approachable and give readers practical tools they can use anytime they need to reset.
My newest book, Remembering the Light, comes from a much more personal place. It shares my own journey through grief, healing, spiritual awakening, and the signs and synchronicities that helped me find hope after loss. My greatest wish is that readers who are grieving feel seen, supported, and reminded that love continues, even when someone is no longer physically with us.
Everything I teach and write comes from lived experience. I’ve walked through difficult seasons, asked hard questions, and searched for peace myself. That is what makes this work so meaningful. If something I’ve learned can help another person breathe a little easier, find comfort in their grief, or remember the light within themselves, then I know I’m fulfilling the purpose I was meant to live.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I truly believe we are all on a journey of healing and awakening. No matter where we are in life, there is always an opportunity to grow, to reconnect with ourselves, and to discover a greater sense of peace and purpose.
That belief is at the heart of everything I do.
To make these tools accessible to everyone, I offer free daily support through my YouTube channel, where you’ll find guided meditations, breathing exercises, mindfulness practices, and wellness classes designed to help reduce stress, calm the nervous system, and create more balance in everyday life.
Whether someone watches a meditation, attends a class, joins a workshop, works with me privately, or reads one of my books, my hope is always the same—that they walk away feeling calmer, more connected, and empowered with practical tools to support their own healing journey.
My books also make thoughtful gifts for anyone experiencing stress, anxiety, grief, or a major life transition. Sometimes the greatest gift we can offer is a message of hope and a reminder that no one has to walk their journey alone.
