Exploring Life & Business with Luke Temple of T&T Roots The Hemp Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke Temple.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in East Texas, but my cultivation roots took hold in California, where I learned to grow—indoors and outdoors, managing full-spectrum operations from seed to sale. Nearly 30 years later, I’ve done just about everything in the cannabis and hemp industry: cultivation, retail, and distribution. My path has always been hands-on—pheno hunting, dialing in flower rooms, managing soil biology, optimizing light cycles, and scaling compliant post-harvest and retail.

My “why” is personal. I lost my little brother, Jared, to cancer when I was 12. That loss shaped my heart for this plant. Over the years, I can’t count how many customers have shared that they consume hemp for nausea and pain related to cancer, or to help with issues like high blood pressure. Those stories keep me committed to cultivating with integrity and educating with compassion.

Today, I run a family-owned farm in Texas focused on hemp and responsible cannabis education. We cultivate with horticultural rigor, healthy genetics, clean inputs, precise irrigation and fertigation, and careful curing, to produce consistent, trustworthy products. My wife is a nurse, and together we serve our community by teaching the differences between pharmaceuticals and hemp, how to evaluate cannabinoids, terpenes, dosage, and delivery methods safely and effectively.

I’m a father of three and a longtime member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church. Faith, family, and farming are the core of my life. I’m grateful to make a living doing something I believe in, cultivating a plant whose value I know firsthand. My mission is to keep learning, keep teaching, and keep cultivating the right way, so our community has access to honest information and high-quality, responsibly grown hemp. That’s the journey that brought me to become one of the leading hemp farmers in Texas—and it’s the purpose that keeps me growing.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Yes—it’s been hard. From the beginning I ran into people completely against cannabis, not because they knew the science but because of the stigma. I stayed who I am: a country boy trying to do right, treat folks well, be fruitful, and provide for my family while cultivating a plant I believe in. Over time, I’ve watched more people either understand it or want to learn, and that’s encouraged me to keep educating and growing with integrity.
What’s been toughest is the uneven, confusing rules. We’re in a hemp revolution that sometimes feels like Prohibition all over again. The government says a person can use a vape if they’re part of the Texas tea cup program—yet family farms like mine get painted as the problem for cultivating honest flower. That double standard is hard to swallow. I answer it by keeping everything above board: clean inputs, compliant COAs, third‑party testing, and labels my neighbors can trust.
America doesn’t feel as straightforward as it once was—honest people doing right by their communities can still feel held down. Even so, I’ve built something real for my town and my family: a farm that educates, creates trustworthy products, and gives my boys a living example of how to start a business the right way. I tell them there are good people and bad people everywhere—whether they’re working at a pharmacy, a daycare, or in the U.S. Senate—and our job is to remain good stewards and use discernment. It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I’m proud of what we’ve grown and the way we’ve grown it.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
This plant should be used, it should be legal, and it should be accessible to everyone. At the same time, it must be responsibly regulated for our children’s sake—because, like anything on this earth, there are bad actors who don’t do it right or with the good of people in mind. My business is built on trust—farm to hand. I’m known for my flower, and I stand by it: the best in Texas. I cultivate clean genetics, harvest at peak, and cure with care. I’m proud of my flower, and I’m proud that I’ve grown into more than just a farmer, I’m a retail store owner and an educator who runs an honest and successful business.

What I offer reflects what I’d put in my own body: healthy, straight from the plant, with no synthetics. We grow it safely and effectively with no pesticides. We ensure we work with an honest manufacturer who operates cleanly, so production is careful, consistent, and true to the flower. Our lineup includes THCA flower; Day, Chill, and Sleep gum drops; tinctures; CBD and CBG salve; dog treats and a dog tincture. We also carry a small selection of seltzers, recovery drinks, and rosin sourced only from Texas farmers I personally trust. Everything carries compliant COAs, third‑party testing, and transparent labeling—so you know exactly what you’re getting, from cultivar to cannabinoid profile.

Bottom line: this plant has value, and when grown and handled the right way—with integrity, testing, and accountability—it can serve our communities well. My promise is simple: honest flower, honest products, and a farm-to-hand standard you can count on.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Love the plant first. If you’re here only for money, this isn’t your lane—cultivation will humble you, because pests, pathogens, weather, and market swings don’t care about spreadsheets. For starters who truly have passion for this plant—and that’s what they know—take business and finance classes so you can do it right the first time. I was blessed with knowledge and with the way I’ve loved and learned from some of the most exclusive OGs in the cannabis industry; without that, I’d be lost.
