Exploring Life & Business with Meaghan of Clawed By Meg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meaghan.

Meaghan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi, my name is Meaghan Luna. I was born in Gonzales, Texas, and raised in Victoria, Texas. I’m the oldest of four girls, so growing up I always felt a responsibility to be someone my younger sisters could look up to.

My love for cosmetology started with creativity. Growing up, I loved coloring and doodling, especially with my grandmother, who taught me how to take my time and pay attention to detail. When I learned that my high school offered a cosmetology program, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I wasn’t sure exactly what area of cosmetology I wanted to pursue, but I knew the beauty industry was where I belonged.

I began the program during my junior year and quickly learned that cosmetology was so much more than just hair. I enjoyed learning about facials, makeup, nails, and all the different ways you could make the industry your own.

I graduated in 2020 during COVID, which created some setbacks with taking my state board exams and caused me to lose some motivation. Thankfully, my parents continued to encourage me and remind me of what I was capable of.

My journey in the salon industry started with pedicures, which quickly became something I truly enjoyed. As I gained more experience, my passion for nails and nail art continued to grow. I loved being able to express my creativity while helping my clients feel beautiful and confident.

In 2023, I became a mom, and my daughter completely changed my motivation. I want her to grow up proud of me and see that even when something feels scary, it is still worth going after your dreams.

After working in the salon industry for several years, people often asked if I had ever thought about having my own space. At first, the idea scared me, but I slowly started imagining what my own business could look like.

One day, I came across a local teeth-whitening course and decided to take a chance on learning something new. The same business also had suites available for rent, and suddenly everything started falling into place. After talking with my partner and family, I prayed about the decision and decided to take the leap.

Soon after, I signed my rental agreement and began creating a space that felt completely like me.

Now, three months into running my own business, I can truly say it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I get to do what I love, spend more time with my family, and continue growing both personally and professionally.

I’m incredibly thankful for my family, friends, clients, and everyone who has supported me along the way. This is only the beginning, and I hope my journey shows my daughter and my younger sisters that sometimes the scariest decisions can lead you exactly where you are meant to

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was the fear of failure. When I first started my business, I constantly questioned whether I would be able to build enough clientele to be successful. I knew I had the passion and skills for what I loved doing, but running a business was a whole different world. I didn’t know exactly where to begin or how to properly manage everything that came with being a business owner. It was intimidating knowing that so much responsibility was on my shoulders. I had to remind myself that nobody starts off knowing everything and that learning is part of the journey. Through patience, consistency, and believing in myself, I’ve learned to take things one step at a time. I’m still learning and growing every day, but looking back at where I started makes me proud of how far I’ve come. What once scared me has now become one of my biggest accomplishments.

As you know, we’re big fans of Clawed By Meg. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
As the owner of Clawed by Meg, I specialize in nail services, pedicures, and teeth whitening. My work allows me to express my creativity, showcase my attention to detail, and most importantly, help others feel beautiful and confident.

I take pride in creating a welcoming environment where my clients can relax, feel comfortable, and leave feeling their absolute best. To me, my work is more than just providing a beauty service. It’s about building genuine relationships, earning my clients’ trust, and creating an experience that keeps them coming back.

Being a business owner has also allowed me to grow personally and professionally. I’m constantly learning, challenging myself, and finding new ways to improve my craft. My goal is to continue growing Clawed by Meg into a brand that represents confidence, creativity, quality, and passion.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me, success isn’t just about how much money you make or how many accomplishments you have. Success is about setting goals for yourself and watching those dreams become reality. It’s about making my family proud, being someone my daughter can look up to, and proving to myself that anything is possible when you work hard and stay dedicated. I believe success is never being completely satisfied with where you are because there’s always room to grow, learn, and become better.
