Exploring Life & Business with Paloma Corrales of LASHESXPALOMA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paloma Corrales.

Hi Paloma, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
At my first job after graduating esthetician school was where the idea was planted to start my own business. Despite making very little at the franchise I first worked for, I was the happiest I had been thus far. However, I wanted the chance to work freely. I didn’t want to conform to the company’s standards because in my opinion they were at the ceiling while the standards I have for myself are limitless. I also wanted to break out of the title “lash technician” and become a “lash artist” that is what I refer to myself as. I was eager to make the experience more enjoyable, customizable and personal. I decided to take a leap of faith and started working for myself during the pandemic of 2020.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In order to start my business, I had to shed old habits and change who I knew I was at that point in my life. I had to reinvent myself in order to become successful. This experience has helped me grow into someone I am proud of, I knew she was in there I just needed the right space to become her. I know that no one will create a platform for me so I am creating one for myself.

One obstacle that I still face today is gaining traffic. I overcome that by recognizing God has slowed me down for a reason. I start creating content, organizing my studio, ordering more inventory and taking new training courses. It’s a never ending cycle; I make sure my technique is up to date and that I am able to move with versatility with each client I work with.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about LASHESXPALOMA?
I specialize in eyelash and eyebrow enhancement services. I strive to create a look that does not overpower one’s natural beauty. I pride myself in supplying my clients with premium products and educating them on aftercare instructions in order to protect their investment.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
An app I use daily is Insightful Timer, when I have downtime in between clients, I’ll meditate for a few minutes. This helps me recenter and mentally prepare for the next service. Often times when I am not conversing with my clients, I will listen to audiobooks while I work. A few of my favorite books that have helped me along the way are: I Am Enough: Mark Your Mirror and Change Your Life by Marisa Peer, The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, Good Vibes, Good Life by Vex King and It’s All In Your Head by Russ. A few of my favorite podcasts are LivBay Lash, Lash Boss Radio, and Lessons of A Lashpreneur.
