Today we’d like to introduce you to Pete Salazar.
Pete, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have over 20 years of experience working for non profits starting right out of college working for US Vets, in Las Vegas. I eventually returned to Austin where I joined Goodwill of Central Texas, then Caritas of Austin where I left to run for Austin City Council.. I did not win, but I served on commissions for over a decade. During that time time I helped found United States Disabled Veterans Abroad. We have helped numerous combat veterans get into life saving care over seas. We now work in the USA, as United States Disabled Veterans.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Funding is always the main factor to how efficiently you can assist others, working through COVID was very difficult but there is so much work to be done.

We assist veterans in life saving care all over the world.
How do you define success?
I define success in the positive role we play in affecting people’s lives.
