We recently had the chance to connect with Girlyne (AKA Gigi) White and have shared our conversation below.
Girlyne (AKA Gigi), we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Gardening! The garden is my sanctuary and it is where I go to destress.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! I’m Girlyne White, though most people call me Gigi. I am a digital graphic artist, acrylic painter, and jewelry designer based in Austin, Texas.
My digital artwork beautifully combines both traditional and contemporary cultural elements, drawing deeply from my Filipino heritage. My acrylic paintings merge anime influences with Western culture, reflecting my journey as a Filipino American through my signature kawaii style. My cultural art brand, “Puraw Carabao,” celebrates my Filipino culture and design, serving as a tribute to my son, who is raised in a multicultural home. In my Asian-inspired jewelry, I love to incorporate natural bamboo, freshwater pearls, and seashells. Additionally, I have a unique collection called “Drink it and Wear it,” where I transform recycled bottle caps into art and upcycled jewelry. My artistic expression also spans various mediums, including pyrography and mixed media art.
Beyond my artistic pursuits, I enjoy cooking, gardening, traveling, creative writing, video editing, engaging with the local Filipino community, and spending quality time with my family.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Born in the Philippines, my parents had high expectations for their kids, especially me, being the eldest. I became a perfectionist, worrying about every little detail. But as I grew older, I realized that being number one doesn’t always mean being the best. The real achievement is learning to handle life’s challenges and not stressing over things beyond our control.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
I spent my childhood within the confines of a ministry university. Whenever fear crept in, I was encouraged to pray fervently until I drifted off to sleep. However, in the face of a current frightening situation, I often put on a brave front, pretending to be the toughest person around—which sometimes landed me in trouble.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends know that what matters to me is their loyalty, trust, and ensuring everyone is fed.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
When I am in my garden. It is my sanctuary.
