Today we’d like to introduce you to Beverly Biehl
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As the youngest of 8 children with a lived experience of life on a working farm, this esoteric subject wasn’t exactly on my radar. My first experience with connecting with energy was around age 5 or 6. My father was a water witcher, and used copper L rods to douse for irrigation well location or drinking water wells for neighbors. One time he had just found an underground water source, and decided to let me have the dousing rods to see if I could also find it. I still remember the surge of energy that went through my hands and my body when I walked to the place where the water vein was. It felt like an intense vibration, and I did the only thing a child knew to do with that…I began to swing them wildly, losing the chance to ever touch them again. My highly sensitive self was sought out by college friends constantly for hearing their stories of woe, anger, and heartbreak. They would feel great later, but it would take me days to process their energetic dump. Later I learned that the term for why I was such an easy mark for this: Energy Empath. I was highly sensitive and that made me highly “absorbment”, but other than exercise, naps, and nature, I didn’t know what to do with all of this overwhelming onslaught of other people’s stuff.
I received a breast cancer diagnosis at 36. With no family history of it, I was confused and frightened, but made it through the 8 rounds of chemo, 2 surgeries, and 33 radiation treatments with the help of my community. A dear friend gave me a book on Feng Shui to help me heal, and I was amazed at the results I had when following very basic suggestions. This motivated me to start on the path of becoming a consultant. Since 2004, I’ve studied with 9 different teachers, and now claim Joey Yap to be my primary teacher after traveling to Malaysia in 2019.
I incorporated transformational coaching in 2008, after learning a technique called Energy Hygiene. This made it possible for me to know when I was being adversely impacted by people and places, and how to protect and ground my energy field. I had been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome prior to this, and was able to eliminate it after practicing this technique. I now also teach classes on this both in person and online. I’m a huge supporter of alternative medicine, and actively use chiropractic, acupuncture, herbs, supplements, rolfing, and meditation to keep myself healthy.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It absolutely has not been a smooth road. Chinese Metaphysics in Texas? For some, they just couldn’t understand that it wasn’t a religion and more of a philosophy. I’ve embraced the “woo-woo” label, and encourage people to suspend their disbelief. Often the rich and successful use Feng Shui as one of their tools to give themselves a leg up on their competition. Where is the harm in changing your perspective on where things are in your living room? Being intentional in life is how one can move from “Go with the Flow” to “Flowing with the GO!”
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Intuitive Interior?
I specialize in assessing homes and business environments from the lens of energy flow. I offer suggestions for ways to mitigate the areas that are creating distraction, irritation, and conflict. Using the study of Feng Shui, which uses the Luo Pan compass, I can pinpoint friction areas and adjust the placement of items to better align with the geomagnetic influences of our planet. I also am proficient in space clearing, which addresses the energetic residue of previous occupants. I use singing bowls and incense, but my preferred method is a fire cleanse. This is a small bowl made of aluminum foil with Epsom salts and a customized blend of essential oils selected for their ability to shift the frequency of the space. I use energy testing to determine the blend and then provide a spreadsheet for the client so they may see what emotions were present in the location of the cleanse. In addition, I have created a line of essential oil based products that are designed to neutralize the energy of a space, purify it, and re-energize it with joy. Joy Water is a room spray and Joy Soak is for enjoying in a bath.
I’m most proud of the way that I combine the tangible way that energy impacts us by addressing how furniture and artwork is placed, and the intangible way that our beliefs and patterns impact our choices in jobs, mates, and mindsets. Awareness and intention combined create a powerful alchemy for growth and success!
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck is a mindset. Even when something that most would consider to be “bad luck” happens, I know that there is an opportunity for growth in that event. Breast Cancer wasn’t on my bucket list of experiences, but it brought vast amounts of learning and expansion. One of my greatest joys is being able to connect other people who need their goods, services, or ideas. Strengthening community bonds increase good luck, because opportunity favors the prepared. And being connected means it’s easier to know who to go to for that preparation.
