Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Kollmorgen.
Hi Brandon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We are a Husband and Wife team who met through our love of music. We were both teaching a local high school marching band and blossomed from there! Both of us love coffee and were quickly sucked into the rabbit-hole of the specialty coffee world and wanted to find a way to combine our Passion for Music and Love for Coffee. Thus, the Bebop was born….. the perfect blend of Jazz, Java, and Heart! We’re in our second year of operations in Liberty Hill and constantly strive to Jazz Up Your Day with our creative menu and good vibes!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We have definitely had our fair share of struggles along the way. From designing our logo, to branding, marketing, and outreach….. we do it all! Broken espresso machines, freezing Austin weather and water leaks just to name a few. We’ve been lucky to work with some incredible partners who have supported us from day one, but it took a ton of sacrifice to get us to where we are now. We worked a ton of hours (60-80+ hour weeks) for no paycheck in the beginning, just keeping our heads above water literally and metaphorically. But, we wouldn’t change it for a thing… Seeing the community rally behind us and show support at events, daily pop-ups or booking us for events mean the world to us!
As you know, we’re big fans of The Bebop Coffee Shop. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Bebop Coffee Shop is a Jazz-Themed coffee trailer based here in Liberty Hill Texas. We specialize in Espresso Drinks served from our custom Aero Build Coffee Trailer. We are truly known for our “Artist Menu” drinks which are all named after Famous/Influential Jazz musicians. A few favorites are the Birks, The Trane, and The Cannonball, all named for Musicians that had an influence in my own playing as a musician – Brandon. We’re most proud of our ability to create a unique experience for every customer and share our passion with them! Being founded on the base of education, it’s our goal to share a little insight on the background behind a drink, a composition or even the coffee process.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
One of the biggest creditors we have to The Bebop is one of my former students, Brent. He runs a company called Brain Fuel Coffee in Arizona and got me introduced to the specialty coffee world. He would bring me different coffee drinks to try and samples of beans he had started roasting to rehearsals and I was HOOKED. It got me going down the rabbit hole learning about origin, ethical sourcing, flavor and roast profiles and more. It definitely opened up my eyes to more in the world of coffee than I could have every imagined!
Another big support system we have is our family. They have stuck by our side and been the best cheerleaders on the most challenging of days!
