Hidden Gems: Meet Cailey McLain of Cailey M. McLain, Attorney at Law

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cailey Mclain

Hi Cailey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I attended undergrad at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, where I was a student athlete. During this time, my life plans were completely changed. I owe so much of who and what I have become to the education and development Southwestern gave me to me.

After realizing I wanted to attend law school, career services at Southwestern began helping me find locations to intern at. I worked at several law offices in the Georgetown/Austin/Bryan/College Station areas, as well as interned for local Congressmen, Senators, and State Representatives. I graduated from Southwestern in December of 2014, and then spent the next 9 months working a legislative session at the State Capitol.

While working at the Capitol, I was admitted to law school, and I attended South Texas College of Law. This is where both my mother and father attended (and now my sister and brother-in-law have as well). While at South Texas, I began working for a Houston based Criminal Defense firm and fell in love with the work. I graduated from South Texas in May of 2018, and ended up back home (Navasota, Texas), where I began my career as a criminal defense attorney in the Brazos Valley. I focused the beginning of my career on defending DWI cases and indigent defense. During the start of my career, I became the youngest person to be designated as a Lawyer Scientist by the American Chemical Society.

In April of 2021, I opened my own law firm (Cailey M. McLain, Attorney at Law), and began representing clients on my own. Since then, I have won several local awards (A-List Best of the Brazos and Best of Grimes County), and have begun speaking at statewide conferences teaching other lawyers how to defend and try DWI cases.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of my lowest lows and my highest highs have been in relation to my career. Criminal Defense is no walk in the park. I like to say we see good people on their worst days, and often times we take on those burdens and fight them alongside of them. However, being able to help and fight for people (who often have no one else fighting for them) the way I do is the most rewarding thing I can imagine doing.

As you know, we’re big fans of Cailey M. McLain, Attorney at Law. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Criminal Defense Attorney

Youngest Lawyer Scientist (Makes me known in the DWI world)

Young and Female (both of which are REALLY rare where I am located — especially for owning my own firm)

What sets me apart? I strive to bring a different type of representation to defendants in my area. Representation that puts the client first and gets them the best possible results. I want my clients to know me face to face and see that I am a real person just like them — that understands who they are and what they want.

Brand? I strive to provide excellence in everything I do. I want my clients to be confident with me by their side. Whether I am retained or court appointed, I value their trust and faith in my abilities.

Readers to know? I don’t run some big firm that is faceless to my clients. I know my clients. I know their families. I think that personal relationship is integral to providing quality representation. I believe in quality of quantity.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
