Hidden Gems: Meet Cinthya Pinon of RCMC medical center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cinthya Pinon.

Hi Cinthya, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a Latina who came to the United States at a very young age. Growing up, I always knew I wanted to give back to people — so once I got into the healthcare field, I decided to work for an amazing company, RCMC Medical Center. I’ve been with them for 13 years now, and I’m currently a Manager and Nurse at our Leander office here in Austin, Texas.

Along the way, I developed PCOS, and it affected so much of my health — I struggled to lose weight and stay active no matter what I tried. But with RCMC’s help and guidance, I was able to turn things around. I’ve lost weight and finally feel healthy again.

When we opened our location here in Austin, I wanted to create something for the community — a place for both women and men. That’s how Chicas Run Club started. When I first started running, I was intimidated and didn’t feel like I fit the “runner” mold at all. But I started anyway, at my own pace, and it changed everything for me.

I wanted to build a community where people feel safe and seen — no pressure to be skinny, no judgment about where you’re starting from. Just show up as you are, move your body, and know you’re supported.

I want to give back what RCMC gave me, and let others — especially anyone dealing with something like PCOS — know that getting back to your healthiest self is possible, and there’s a community here ready to walk (or run!) beside you.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I’m a daughter of immigrants and came to the U.S. at a very young age only speaking Spanish. Blending in was tough — learning English, adjusting to a whole new culture, just trying to find where I fit.

Then my PCOS diagnosis hit — I couldn’t lose weight or stay active no matter what I tried, and it took a toll on me.

Even starting to run felt intimidating. I didn’t look like a “runner” and questioned if I belonged.

But those struggles are exactly why I started Chicas Run Club — so no one else has to feel alone at the starting line.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
RCMC Medical Center is a medically supervised weight loss and wellness company. We help patients dealing with all types of health conditions through personalized programs that include nutritionists, structured plans, and real accountability — you’re never doing it alone.

We have four locations — three in California and one here in Texas — serving communities on both coasts.

What sets us apart is our medical-first approach. We offer different medication options, always guided by what’s healthiest for the patient — whether someone prefers natural approaches or is interested in other medication options, our team guides them safely every step of the way.

What I’m most proud of is that we don’t just treat numbers on a scale — we treat people. I’ve lived that myself through my own PCOS journey with RCMC. I want readers to know that if you’re struggling with your health, there’s a team here that will meet you where you are and walk beside you toward a healthier life.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Consistency. I believe showing up, staying focused, and continuing to grow even when things get hard is what leads to success.
