Hidden Gems: Meet Elissa Gallegos of Texas Pressed Flowers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elissa Gallegos.

Hi Elissa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a twenty-something wife, a dog mom of two, and a Registered Nurse. I am originally from Shoreacres, TX, on the Texas coast outside of Houston. I graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with a degree in Nursing and specializing in Critical Care. After meeting my husband in Austin, we knew we wanted to plant roots in Dripping Springs after we got married. We built a house, moved in early 2022, and quickly began building a community in the neighborhood and one of the local churches. When planning my wedding, I was a very “DIY” bride. I made almost everything for my big day. Around the same time, bouquet preservation became very popular. So, I took a few classes from a professional floral preservationist to save my wedding bouquet forever. After the wedding, I did not want this newfound skill to go to waste, so I began Texas Pressed Flowers to bring the art of Floral Preservation to the Central Texas Area. We are now celebrating 2 years of serving Texas and beyond!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When starting a new business, there are always bumps in the road. Thankfully from the start, we have been profitable. So finances have been fine. As a nurse turned entrepreneur, the business world is new but exciting. One continuous struggle has been duplicating the floral preservation process with my team members. I spent over a year perfecting the steps and procedures to ensure a successful preservation product. Once hiring employees, it could take months of training to ensure the team member is competent. However, Texas Pressed Flowers is where it is today with the dedication of the team members that have taken the time to learn from me. While challenging, the duplication and evolution of the floral preservation process are necessary to ensure a quality work of art for our clients.

As you know, we’re big fans of Texas Pressed Flowers. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with the brand?
Texas Pressed Flowers is a floral preservation business that turns florals from any special event (weddings, memorials, graduation, prom, or anniversaries) into works of art that can be enjoyed for years. Located in the heart of the wedding capital of Texas, Texas Pressed Flowers is dedicated to serving anyone with a special connection to flowers.

We are known to be meticulous in our work. Once the flowers are received, we take apart the petal-by-petal flowers to begin the pressing portion of the process. Once the flowers are pressed and dried, we can reconstruct the petals together to reveal the flower it once was. We then design the flowers and greenery onto glass, creating a beautiful work of art. The design is then framed and ready to go back home to the client.

The brand of Texas Pressed Flowers started to be focused on “fun,” “young,” and “brides,” but has quickly shifted into being attractive to all walks of life. I am proud of how it has evolved with the clients we have had the opportunity to serve.

Texas Pressed Flowers does not require bookings in advance. We can work with anyone and everyone thanks to our dedicated team members that make it all possible. Flowers must get to us within 5 days of the event to ensure the best preservation outcome. We know how special flowers are to you, and we are excited to be able to create a work of art for you to enjoy for years to come!

Are any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
As a new entrepreneur, I love listening to business and financial podcasts. These inspire me to work hard, try new techniques, and stay passionate in my work. The Mere Christians podcast hosted by Jordan Raynor is continually playing as I work on orders. He interviews people with everyday jobs while continuing to influence the gospel through their work. As a Christian, this podcast helps me achieve fulfillment while serving others. Funny enough, Shark Tank has been very influential in my work journey. It was my first outlet for hearing about entrepreneurship; having watched every episode, it is hard not to give them credit for learning that creating a profitable business or product is possible.
