Hi Genesis, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in Matamoros, Mexico, a border town, and moved to the U.S. in 2000 when I was just eight years old. Integrating into a completely new culture and language was a challenging experience, but it shaped who I am today. Adapting and thriving in that environment taught me resilience early on.

Initially, my career path looked very different. I graduated from Texas A&M – Corpus Christi with a degree in Political Science and Philosophy, planning to attend law school. However, my father’s unexpected passing shifted my course.

I moved to Waco, Texas, preparing to start at Baylor Law School, but during that time, I had an incredible experience with my realtor. It sparked a curiosity in me. I began to explore the industry further and eventually decided to get my real estate license. What started as a pivot became my purpose. Nearly 11 years later, I can confidently say it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting my career in Waco was tough because I didn’t know anyone. Building a client base from scratch took time and perseverance, but through hard work, I earned the trust of my clients, many of whom became repeat customers.

In 2018, I moved to Austin, which brought its own challenges. Once again, I was starting from zero—leaving behind all my Waco contacts and entering a highly competitive market. But Austin has been a place of immense growth for me, both personally and professionally.

As you know, we’re big fans of Z Realty. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I opened Z Realty as a way to elevate the level of service in the real estate industry. I wanted to create a personalized experience for every client, tailored to their unique needs. More importantly, I wanted to represent and advocate for underrepresented communities, particularly the Hispanic community.

I remember an incident from my childhood when a realtor yelled at my father, trying to force him into signing a contract he didn’t fully understand. That moment stuck with me. It fueled my determination to ensure no one feels taken advantage of because of a language barrier or lack of guidance. My goal is to provide the same white-glove service to everyone, regardless of their budget or background.

Z Realty is built on a foundation of genuine care, excellence, and a personalized approach to real estate. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to nurturing relationships. We believe real estate isn’t just about buying or selling property—it’s about helping people find a place where their life happens. That’s why we provide the same white-glove service to every client, regardless of their budget.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see the real estate industry becoming even more technology-driven while maintaining the importance of personal relationships. Advances in AI and virtual reality will continue to streamline the home-buying and selling process, making it easier for clients to visualize properties and access data. However, these tools will never replace the value of a trusted advisor who provides personalized guidance.

I also foresee a shift towards more sustainable and eco-friendly housing as clients prioritize energy efficiency and green building practices. This trend will influence how homes are built and marketed, especially in a forward-thinking city like Austin.
